It's only a matter of time before a steampunk LARP can be made.

Step 1: Develop LARP rules for GURPS.
Step 2: Wait for the Girl Genius RPG supplement to come out for GURPS.
Step 3: Go and show those fools at the institute ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!

Steampunk would be EASY. The hardest part would be props!

Rules for various LARPs are pretty easy to shoe-horn into other games. For example, there are NO official rules of any kind for Shadowrun LARP, but many such games have been run. I personally like to use a stripped-down version of the FATE system.

And then of course there's free-form LARP, where you don't bother to have any rules at all (or just very very minimal rules).
