Shadowrun!

Post by Xaq »

So, in case no-one has clued in from the current storyline, Alina and I are big Shadowrun fans. I've been playing it since the early 90's, back when 2nd Edition was new. In celebration of the current Shadowrun comics, I recently re-started an old Chronicle of mine... here's what the group looks like:

Ricochet - Human ex-yakuza physical adept who favours 2-gun mojo and "The Matrix"-style Gun-Fu.

Scarlet - Elven Decker with a fixation on Gone With the Wind and a home-made Cyberdeck (called Rhett).

Viper - An Elven aspected Snake Shaman and former Go-Gang motorcycle racer.

Willow - A hippy Native American Troll Street Samurai with bright green skin (chloroplast implants) and a home-built machinegun named "Little Jimmy" (this is Alina's character).

Squint - A high-tech thief/Rigger who builds her own tiny micro-drones for B&E and spying. Incredibly smart and tech-oriented.

We've had one game so far and I'm REALLY looking forward to where the campaign is going to go. So I was thinking I should post a thread where people can post their own Shadowrun stories and reminisce about old characters. Come join the fun, Chummers!

My two favorite Shadowrun characters ever:

Azrael (Shiro Yamagawa) - The Yakuza tied Assassin physical adept who I ran back in 2nd Ed who ended up with a magic rating of 17... major league badarse. Over 750 karma earned on that bad boy.

Desperado (Juraviel A'far)- Western themed gunslinger elf who ended up starting his own runner bar when he retired; the Duke Saloon.

I've only gotten to play Shadowrun twice and I can't really remember the first game.

The second one I made a troll sumo wrestler that really wanted to join the yakuza (he grew up in a corp family in california and moved to Seattle once he had enough nuyen). He went by Brockozuna. It was really fun to play a big dumb guy and speak like a drunk samurai from a Kurosawa movie all the time (English was his second language.) There was multiple times that I would bellow "Brockozuna, ICHIBAAAAAN!" when I thought I'd done a great job and the rest of the team would have to explain that I really shouldn't have done that. The only annoying thing about Brockozuna is that people kept calling him a Rigger just because I bought him a giant hover truck with some combat mods. Sure he had a bid vehicle but he's a friggin' troll.

The first job we did involved a kidnap/delivery operation. Over the course of the job we found out our boss was an insect shaman and the drop point was a child porn studio. Hilarity ensued as we went our separate ways an hour after the drop and most of the party snuck back to rescue her, call the cops, or burn the place down.

So, did anyone here know that Shadowrun has yet again changed hands as a property? WizKids has licensed it to Catalyst Game Labs rather than FanPro. It sounds like many of the staff from FanPro came over to Catalyst with the property, but some of the major developers are changing. I hope some of the original FASA staff that came to FanPro after FASA closed their doors are still around. The further the material gets from the original writers, the more it's going to change.

On the other hand, it looks like Catalyst is also handling classic Battletech. I would LOVE to get back into Battletech... I wonder if I can find an old copy of the 3025 tech readout?

I have one, but they are getting pretty scarce. Fortunately, there are a LOT of used books and game stores in Edmonton. Good luck!
