Strange Dreams

Post by Dustman »

So. I had a couple of odd dreams whilst I was out in California, and it occurs to me that a thread for writing down any weird/cool dreams that we have might be a good idea. Had any strange ones lately? Share 'em!

Dream 1: I'm sure that there was more to it than this, but the major highlights I remember are as follows. Following a battle with the Decepticons, Optimus Prime was wounded with a bullet-hole in his fuel tank. I asked him what would happen to the hole when he turned back into his humanoid form, and when he transformed, it turned out that he now had a sucking chest wound. He was too weak to change back, and the access point to the wound was too small for Autobot hands, so I had to fix it. I proceeded trying to patch it up with a home-made band-aid and some J.B. Weld, but in the process accidentally spilled some of the J.B. Weld on his starter lugs. This may have caused a short-circuit and killed him, but I don't know; I woke up right after that.

Dream 2: My brother and I had been hired to head up an expedition to the Antarctic to hunt Shoggoths. I'd just finished reading At the Mountains of Madness, so I guess they were on my brain. Two things that didn't make sense about this: 1)Who in their right mind would hunt Shoggoths in the first place, never mind the fact that the guys on the expedition were using double-barreled shotguns; and 2)My brother and I were dressed in a style far too reminiscent of Viewtiful Joe. And the reason for the expedition in the first place? It was part of an ad campaign to promote Ray Ban sunglasses.

I once had a dream where I was in a steam boat going down the Mississippi river with the reanimated corpse of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). We were talking mostly about what it was like to live during the civil war, and whatever insight I could provide him in regards to modern day technology, when suddenly an old Spanish carrack flying the jolly Rodger came into view.

IT turned out that this steam boat for some reason had a cannon, and Sam Clemens just happened to be an expert at naval warfare against pirates. The end result of course was a needlessly dramatic fight involving cutlasses and flint lock pistols on a deck flaming from the powder room being detonated. Once the last of the pirate corpses was thrown overboard and the flames were put out, Sam stood at the edge of the deck as if enjoying his moment of victory. IT was at this time that I remembered that I hate zombies and that you cannot technically murder the dead, and I gave him a kick to his back which sent him plummeting into the water. Apparently, piranha inhabited the Mississippi in this dream world, for a school of them were feasting on his mummified body while I was left with a vessel full of stolen treasure on a disabled ship without a crew.

I wonder if that dream meant anything...

Alright I had this dream some time ago:

Okay, It was in a D&D world, and I was a powerful Cleric with the book of Exalted Deeds. I was in command of an elite company of soldiers, and we were at war with another Kingdom. I can't quite remember, but my name was along the lines of "Something of something", Something, quotation marks and all, and we had just engaged in battle, and I was standing upon a hill, overlooking the conflict. And there was Mitch! (From the D&D campaign i'm running. Thanatos and people know.) he was were gaunt and pale, and EVIL! He was "Ripper of Souls", Ardammel. An evil cleric wielding the Book of Vile Darkness, as powerful as I. I shouted to him "Come, leave your lord and steal the book, along with me." and we just took off. I was the good cleric, mind you. He had a Scythe, and I, a massive warhammer. I was in silver and gold, with the crest of an eagle emblazoned into the chest of my plate. His armor was Black and Purple, possibly with a viper's head on the chest. And we fled to a mountain, where he had lived, enshrouded in a vile purple fog that suppressed our powers. As we neared the top, we somehow gained a ninja. Then there was a fifty yard climb up a rotting cargo net. I slipped down, but channeled power from Mitch and the ninja to get a burst of speed and actually beat the ninja up to the top. It was then that we met his parents, also evil clerics, sitting on top of the mountain sipping tea. We talked, had a snack and some tea, and went down the other side of the mountain, on route to a city on the far side. We somehow...not quite sure how...ended up escorting a woman/princess/something mage, whose brother was in a large castle-like building. It used to be the home of the Dragon King, and a lot of Dragons. But in a previous Final-Fantasy-like dream, i had killed off all of the Dragons for the Monkey God, the one from the Chinese Zodiac. So when we heard the screaming laughter, she was worried. I then explained that another party had come through and killed off the dragons. Mitch kind of chuckled evilly at us, and we got to talking as we left her behind. I then woke up.

I had an epic dream about a year or so ago and I haven't been able to (nor do I want to) forget it.

There I stood, at the top of the castle walls at the front lines, commanding men in what seemed to be epic times (times with swords, spells, castles, etc.). The sun was setting, and in the distance, about 2 miles from the castle on which I stood, another towering castle. Unlike the one I was on, however, this one was terrifying and dark. The strong orange glow of the sun didn't seem to reach even the walls of the castle. Beneath me, in the area that stood between both strongholds, a maze, through which some of the men on my army ran, yelling their battle cries.

As the last rays of the sun ended their span of life, the maze began to fill up in black, quickly charging at my wall from the opposing side. The speed at which the black filled the maze left me in awe. Within seconds of the disappearance of the sun, the cries of men were heard. When the black finally reached the wall on which I stood, I could see the demons crowding the maze, almost acting as one entity. I drew my sword and yelled, "CHARGE!" as I pointed dramatically forward. A friend of mine (named Giacomo) drew his bow and stood on one of the towers to my left, shooting demons as they slowly crawled on each other to reach the heights of my wall.

Out of nowhere, an arrow struck me on the shoulder. Luckily, my plate was thick enough so that the arrow could not penetrate and inflict damage, but the blow was enough to send me back a couple of feet... which for some reason, led me to fall into what seemed to be the sewers of the castle. However, these were not in use, and loose sand broke my 40 foot or so fall. I lay there for a while, not knowing whether or not I was still alive, but the corpse of one of my comrades coming to give me company reassured me I was still in battle.

I looked up at the rectangular hole several stories above me and began to see darkness shrowding it. I took my cloak and wrapped myself in it, somehow knowing subconciously that it would conceal me with the sand of similar color.

I woke up shortly afterwards haha.

I've been dreaming about zombies. I think I mentioned this in another thread. Damn Max Brooks and his apocalyptic writings.

I tend to forget my dreams. However, last nights involved aliens, spaceships and arcade games with a deadly penalty for trying to cheat (You got shoved in your spaceship and then a big spaceship blew you up). Then I realized it was all a game and made a new character and woke up.

I had a good one last night. It was the future, and thanks to advances such as more efficient batteries and smaller lasers, the weapon of choice for most everyone in the world were cell phones that has a laser included as one of their features. However, the company that made these cell phones charged a dollar per shot... When they announced that they were canceling service for their single shot models in favor of a new model with a firing rate of 40 shots per second, people stormed the head quarters in armed protest. The protest was quickly ended however when the company stopped service to all phones except for the ones carried by their own security force.

Holy crap that one about Mark Twain as a zombie sent me into giggle fits.
Also, it's good to know that I'm not the only person who dreams about zombies.
A lot.

Anyway, recently I've been dreaming about Undying. Every night for the past, oh I don't know, four or five days? Which isn't really surprising since I have been completly unable to get it off my brain for the past week at least. This is what happens when you write stupid fan fiction, I suppose.

All I really remember was that I was a Covenant, but I was in our time. Like, the desendant of Joseph's brother I guess. (Joseph as in Jeremiah's father.) Anyway, I moved into the Covenant estate for whatever reason because I guess it was mine now.
The next thing I remember was talking to Aaron about something (he was in his 'human' form) then Bethany showed up and was pissed at me for some reason. She tried to kill me or something. Then Aaron was all, "rwar revenge" and attacked her and protected me.
I'm sure stuff happened in between those two things, but I don't remember it. And for some reason Aaron is always a "good" guy in my dream. Maybe because I pity him so much.

Lol, I am glad my insanity is at least entertaining. My zombies are always famous people, though. I had one about Sigmund Freud not long ago, but that one was just too disgusting and disturbing to post here. Lets just say that I would see a shrink about if I were not sure that would drive me completely insane. I am hoping I get Schrodinger tonight. I know a cat who may want revenge.

Ha! Schrodinger as a zombie; that's classic! And the cell phone dream actually sounds like a kick-arse low-budget action movie that would come on Sci-Fi at like 3:00 a.m. I would totally record it if it came on; it would take up permanent space on my hard-drive.

Lol, yeah. It does sound like something Sci Fi would air. The weird thing about these dreams, or at least the really vivid ones, is that I do not stay in my bed when I am having them. I guess I actually act them out kind of. Also, I must somehow be aware of my environment as I do this because I am able to do things like open doors. It is mostly harmless, except for one time when I somehow fell backwards into my shower. My back hit the soap tray breaking it and leaving 2 jagged corners which cut up my back in such a way that I still have 3 scars from it. Waking up in a shower that is covered with large splotches of your own blood is not an experience I would recommend to others. I was pretty scared until I got a good look and saw that the cuts were fairly shallow.

I also once somehow got out or my apartment. I ended up in my underwear on the lawn of some poor woman who thought I was dead, and was too terrified to leave the house. I was awakened by a police officer who did not quite believe my story, and it was quite awkward until things were sorted out. Anyway, my front door now needs a key to be unlocked even from the inside, so that should not happen again. Still makes for a good story, though XD

I dream about zombies a lot (Max Brooks and hotsauce before bed), but I had a killer dream the other day.

Preface: One of my girlfriends friends was proposed to the day before, and we got on the topic of engagement rings. So, I, in my wisdom, decided to search for a 'metal' engagement ring. Found one (there's a process by which a laser can turn a metal black).

Later: That night I had a dream that myself, my girlfriend and my brother were chilling out in Las Vegas in a church of Satan. The floors, pillars and walls were black marble, and in the Vegas vein, there was crimson neon everywhere. We were in the back on black wooden pews, while up front there was an altar, and people were getting married there. Every so often, a giant, cartoony Satan would pop out of the rafters like a cuckoo clock. This carried on for a few hours, until I stood up and walked out of the church and woke up.

No more jalapeno quesadillas before bed for me. I'll stick to hotsauce zombie dreams.

Man you guys have some hilarious dreams. Cartoony satan wins.

When I dream about zombies it's always in the Dawn of the Dead shambiling around eating brains kind. In large groups. Last dream I had where there were lots of zombies they were doing some kind of... zombie dance. It basically consisted of walking in place with your arms outstretched, but walking in place without moving your knees. Then they turned around and did it the other way. Yah. It was weird.
That whole dream was really... weird.

Oh man! I hadn't even thought about that! Now that I do, I probably had the dream because I had seen the music video again that day, and listened to the song too many times over. xD
If you read Dr.McNinja, you should know that the beginning of "Revenge of the Hundred Dead Ninjas" should ONLY be read while listening to that song.

Yeah, that could be it. Or perhaps you'd been watching this YouTube video a few too many times.

Dude, that reminds me of a couple other dreams of mine.

1) Alright, my family and i are in a car, driving to some bomb/nuke shelter, right? and when we get there, we and everyone else are herded into what I can only describe as a chain-link corral. Then the instant sunrise, and six mushroom clouds on all sides. The first time around, we panic, I escape with someone, and end up dead somehow. The dream repeats 6 times, changing at the bomb drop. Two other times i can not remember fully I died, and one I survived. The death of mine i can remember clearly is the guards, all in Haz-Mat suits, open up on the unsuspecting and calm civilians. I find a gun wrapped up like one of those toy lasers at the toy store, and return fire. I get into the main facility, but am apprehended and killed with some sort of short-range device. The only memorable survival of mine is when i am apparently a spy of some sort, sneak into the facility, get the information i need, and get out, killing or incapacitating guards the whole way.

2)I was some evil dude in a Final Fantasy-esque dream, and I have some uber artifact of liquefying matter. I liquify some building and houses with my allies, before we are attacked by a Rainbow 6/ Ghost Recon team. I lost all but one of my men, who was wounded, and they had two men left standing. I had a submachine gun of some sort. I Peek around the corner of the truck we were sheltering behind, whhen I hear one of the soldier-type guys talking behind me. Something like, "Die you bastards!" and he opened upon the last man I had standng. He was already injured, and i knew he would not survive, so...I took the bullets. jumped right in front of them. They tore into my upper- and mid-torso, and I slammed into the ground hard, dying fast. I remember my vision going blurry, and my life seeping away, and it went black. Then i woke up.

The short list of several emeorable dream-deaths:
Consumption: By a giant, man eating venus fly trap
Profuse bleeding: After having my ankles chewed off by a swarm of sewer rats which coated the floor
Decapitation: At the hands of a massive skeleton army.
More consumption: By an angry manticore
and again by a gryphon
-and a dragon
Blood loss: And going into a vampire
Absorption: By a green ooze
Hacked to pieces: This was significantly different than simple decapitation.
More decapitation: Only this time, my head was eaten by bats.
Being shot in the back: By an arrow. From a Green Archer-like charecter
Being shot in the face: By something small and bullet-like. Okay, it was a bullet.
More being eaten, by multiple creatures at once.

Oh, and good old soul-being-sucked-out. That was a good one.

I've died in my dreams. Enough to clearly disprove the idea that if you die in your dreams, you die in real life.

Given that I have some ability at lucid dreaming, I just respawn.
