Or, if they do, they are hit on by (some of) the males and they run away screaming. Some (Aeire, Demon Cat being the first that come to mind) enjoy that kind of attention, some don't. Some choose to ignore it. That was at least the case when I frequented the forums more... um... frequently.
I still *read* the webcomics, I just don't post to the forums as much as I used to (and let's face it, most of my posts were to the Nonsense Contest, One Word Story, and Neverending Sentence threads anyway, so did you guys really miss me all that much?) -- I imagine a lot of fans, male and female, never thought it useful to bother with the forums.
Another thing is, a lot of people, I think, feel that forums are for people who have some connection with the artist. I used to talk to Calli a lot at the time in my life when I was in #crfh every night (gee, I speak of that like it was years ago, when it STARTed exactly one year ago), so I hopped over here to check it out. Check the message boards of any of the KeenSp* comics and you'll see it -- Maritza has a cult following, as does Josh, heck, we call them by their first names, even. I was just encouraged by the fact that some of the posts were actually responded to by the artist -- which drew me in even though I didn't quite feel a personal connection. And so most people might read the comic and not even bother.
Just my $3.17 (which is, of course, 2 cents adjusted for inflation with the result in 1982 dollars).
[This message has been edited by baka_sama317 (edited 12-13-2001).]
