Okay, for those who really want to slog through my reason(s) for mediocrity:
I'm really hurting right now. Angry, frustrated, and above all else HURT. You see, my ex-roommate got a roommate. Her new roommate is a friend of hers. What makes me mad is that my ex-roommate tried to force me to leave so that this person could move in. And Housing told me that under no circumstances would this be allowed to happen. Well, apparently Housing lied.
Not only did she eventually force me out (I left [read: was involuntarily removed by my parents and Housing to keep me from losing it completely] to preserve what tattered fragments remained of my sanity), but SHE got what she wanted.
What REALLY stings, though, is that these people still want to make me miserable even though I'm gone.
So in short, my ex-roommate got to treat me like dirt to get what she wanted, and Housing let it happen. I think I have a legitimate reason for anger. And it's clear that they're going to let her get away with it, too.
I'm THIS close to turning vigilante. I want justice. I want them to feel the pain, the misery, the suffering that they put me through, and maybe next time they'll think twice.
So the comic was not a big priority (what with me borderline crazy), and I acknowledge that. But I'll try to work through this, and hopefully it won't go downhill any farther...
[This message has been edited by Calliope (edited 10-19-2000).]

Gah...
My very considerable sympathy...
If I may ask (you certainly don't have to answer) whether you meant that you're moving somewhere else in the college, or out of the college?
This is rotten work from them (ex-r and crew). I'd quote but I think the point's clear enough anyway...
All luck to you... -Eric Schissel

I moved 2 doors down. I should also mention that I moved out about 3-4 weeks ago. (The weekend before POCKET first went on the web.)
Of course, the trash room and storage spaces are between the old and new rooms, so I never see THEM unless by chance or if they're really trying. The fact that they still want to be jerks makes me mad.
I may feel better tomorrow, after a good night's sleep. And at least I live with PEOPLE now...as opposed to...well, calling them pigs is an insult to our pink curly-tailed friends.
And I should mention, I'm not a violent person, so "turning vigilante" means that I'd probably find a way to stick a non-stop loop of "Show Biz Kids" (Steely Dan), "A Song For Richard And His Friends" (Chicago), the entire Elegy sequence (Chicago again), and other songs of a condemning nature, in their room...where they can't reach...or some other way of messing with their minds until they break. I believe that the most dangerous "crazies" are the geniuses, which means they'd better watch out.

Ah.
Ah, yes.
Come to think of it, were I in such a situation my own collection might have just the thing, too. (The last time I was forced out of my apartment, for a different reason (no longer being in the graduate program,) I was able to obtain an extension so that I could find housing elsewhere, but that's a different story, and it still made me frantic-as-an-analogy-escapes-me. Which was where having friends helped... well, a place where...)
Good luck, again, and hope the tangles unknot.

Wow, well that sure puts my problems in perspective. All I've got is a roommate who's dating my next door neighbor. This in itself wouldn't be so bad, since they seem to have a *very* good relationship. But, they have the slight problem that they think that I'm a much heavier sleeper than I really am, If you take my meaning.
But I empathise. Last year I had a neighbor who was a complete asshole. She for some reason decided that she didn't like me and decided to make my life a living hell. Luckily the only thing she managed to get away with was a TI 86, which I could never prove she stole, and once she managed to get everyone on the floor except me invited to a big party at her boyfriend's frat. Believe me, we've all been there. You'll be all right.

Oh, and speaking from personal experience, the *most* annoying of all songs is anything by Wesely Willis. Look some of his stuff up on Napster, listen to it, then imagine it being blasted out of someone's window at 3:00AM. See what I mean?

The guy who told me about *that* aspect of roomie problems is now married and lives with his wife. So he doesn't have to worry about evil roommates, I hope.

quote:

But I empathise. Last year I had a neighbor who was a complete asshole. She for some reason decided that she didn't like me and decided to make my life a living hell.

This was also more or less a case of the "I don't like you because you're YOU" syndrome, which for brevity's sake I'll refer to as Barrytown disease.
I hope that I'll be all right, because I've already almost completely lost it. Fortunately, the only thing I was missing was a $2.50 Wal-Mart extention cord (yup, I even took MY battery out of THEIR clock. HAHAHAHA!) which isn't a big deal, and I think that may have even just been misplaced.
And if she goes to a frat party, I'm going to to doubled over on the floor laughing. Her boyfriend's studying to be a Baptist preacher, although her behavior makes me suspect she'll eventually get involved in a little "premarital hanky-panky", to use Joyce's (of It's Walky!/Roomies) words. And I will be LAUGHING...I'll also feel sorry for them, but depending on how sane (or not) I am I may laugh a good long while first.
Ok, now that I have time to actually write without the threat of being late for a class, I should mention that the "Revenge: the Musical!" idea I mentioned earlier is a cross between a guilt trip and that Chinese water-torture thing: water in itself is not a bad thing (and neither are the songs I listed as examples), but the continual drip...drip...drip...supposedly wears down even the most stubborn of people. On the other hand, these girls have a combined IQ that can't even rival a carrot. (Although there was some amusement to be had in that. Watching them run around giggling and screaming like idiots, and then complaining that they failed their tests...and then blaming the professors! What's really funny is that a lot of the professors here are really nice people who *gasp* WANT TO HELP YOU LEARN! It's their job, after all!)
Well, I'm feeling better today, I guess sleeping did help some. Doesn't mean I'm not upset, though. Just a little saner now. (Although I shouldn't be tossing "sane" and "insane" around like that -- they legal terms, not medical.)
[This message has been edited by Calliope (edited 10-20-2000).]

As in two separate graphics files? (Or some other meaning?)
Well, we'll find out in a few hours!
Best wishes
Eric Schissel
(And yeah, we had a lot of professors like that back at my college (and high school) too... didn't they know they were supposed to be there to be as confusing as possible and make life a living heck for students? But no, they (well, some...) actually seemed to enjoy teaching, and wanted to pass things on to such students as were there as actually wanted to learn... which didn't prevent me from having very, very serious troubles, but gave me some very good academic times too... sorry, pointless digression.)

Anyway...if anyone still reads this thread...
Today's comic (10/21) is a 2-part comic! Partly to make up for yesterday's mediocrity, partly because...well, it was the only way I could think to properly cover the segment, but the thing is, I don't know how Keenspace is going to handle the "a" and "b" suffixes I added to the normal dates. If worst comes to worst I'll just make one big file (about 200 KB, people) and post it later.
Here's hoping it works!
