Very nice.
I...don't...have a scannner.
Actually, I was thinking of changing the size reduction from 50 percent (i.e. what you see now) to 75 percent of the original. I actually draw an 8*2 comic.
(Realizing that this may sound confusing, that would change the size from the 1"*4" layout I use now to 1.5"*6".)
I use Photoshop for my drawing. Believe me, if I had access to a scanner, the art would be worlds better than it is now. On the other hand, my handwriting is feminine chicken scratch.
[This message has been edited by Calliope (edited 10-18-2000).]

Very cool. Very, very cool.
I don't remember where I found a link to this comic, but I'm very glad I did. The concept and the charecters here are charming. I must say it's refreshing to read a comic from the very beginning, rather than slogging through years of archives to understand the current strip.
I do agree with LostJonny, though; the panels should be a tad larger. It's hard to get the full effect with a small pic. You might even consider the full 2x8 size; we don't mind scrolling a bit.
And don't worry about the handwriting. If the Nukees readers could put up with Gav's handwriting on his first few strips then we can put up with anything. Worst comes to worst you could scan the comic's art in and type in the dialogue. That may be a good idea for some situations anyway.
Out of curiosity, what is your screen resolution? I work at 1024*768, although it can go up to 1280*1024 (and then the screen gets dim and flickers and you can't help but wonder if you'll have a seizure one of these days because of it).
Also, it looks like it'll have to be either original size or the 50% reduction, because I tried 75% and it didn't look nice at all. But the 2*8 resolution is awfully big, too. (neglected to mention earlier -- if you want an idea of how big a 2*8 panel would be, I added a colorized version of Prisca's "COFFEE OR DEATH" ultimatum in the computer art section. It's at the original size. So compare that to the current size of the strip that it came from...)
By the by, I just took a look at Nukees -- and unless he went back and changed the lettering, my handwriting is MUCH worse. As I said earlier, feminine chicken scratch.
[This message has been edited by Calliope (edited 10-19-2000).]

I range from 640x480 to 1280x1024, although
I like 1024x768 more. 1280x1024 is just too much for me, unless you have a big monitor.

That's because you're not applying an integer size reduction. I think that 66% won't look nice too.

I suggest you a size nearby 700x200 for publishing (which means 1400x400 for editing; if it's too large for you, you can always
(if you're not doing it already) split the panels, editing each of then, and resizing them BEFORE joining them on the final image).

quote:

Photoshop 5.5. Spent a year using it in Computer Art class (which they only started my senior year, so I only got one year of it ) I guess it paid off.
To borrow quote structure from Maritza Campos: If I told you that my hand-drawn artwork is even better, would your head explode?
