It definitely isn't anime, but other than that does Jem and The Holograms count as a Magic Girl show?

I usually think of "magical girl show" as a Japanese genre by definition. But yes, it isn't hard to see something like Jem and the Holograms or Princess Guenivere and the Jewel Riders as basically the American equivalent.
