I really don't think you should go to five days a week unless you can and want to handle it. I know how it can be dividing time between your family and comics. I'm not doing much of anything comic wise at the moment. I think its great you're going to two days a week. I just wanted to express my enthusiasm.<P>Take it easy,<P>Jason Milfred

While I'd love to see Odd Jobs 5 days a week, I'm with the Wandering One. Daily strips are hard and demanding beasts - I find it tough doing mine and I'm non-colour six days a week, whilst trying to wean myself off the Sundays. And that's without family or a complex style like yours. Oh, or work right now, but I'm working on that.<P>So just go with what you can do Tim. We'll love it anyway.<P>Kitsune<P>------------------

I'll be ecstatic to get twice a week, but turning out anything like this quality five times a week would be a full-time job. If you're driven to do it, that's different, but don't think "it'd be neat" because it wouldn't be, you'd burn out, and then we'd be stuck with zero per week, which is infinitely worse.<P>My two bits.<P>(afterthought) -- But don't get me wrong! Thanks everyone! I wouldn't think of doing it any more than twice a week if it meant compromising the quality of the strip or, more importantly, the time I spend with my family.<P>That said, I might be able to pull it off with the right incentive. I figure in several years people may start to be willing to pay for content on the internet in some way.<P>Right now, though, I'm looking forward to having a completed story published online. Who cares if it's free or not, I'll have done it. And this is only the first one: I have about four more plotted in my head, and another in the works.<P>Basically, I'm having fun. Hope everyone else is too.

Speaking of new stories... what's the plan? Are you going to do new Odd Jobs(starring Mr. DiAngelo) or will these be completely different stories all together. Or are you thinking about something like Sin City? Retaining the basic structure, but giving yourself more freedom to explore different characters.<P>Jason Milfred

I'd be very leery of such a big jump in frequency.<P>I've cut my own schedule back from 4 strips a week to 3 for a little while. (Or from 3 to 2 a week, plus a bench strip every sunday, depending on how you look at it. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> ) There have been times I've done a strip daily, but those were quick cut-n-paste Bench strips mostly earlier this year, and life is just too unpredictable and I know right now I couldn't do that indefinitely. Currently my strips take 2 hours or more on average, especially if you factor in the planning/thinking/storyboarding/etc. I'm doing a b&w story now partly as a breather -- it's much quicker not to have to color! (And partly inspired by Odd Jobs, I'm doing pure b&w, so I don't even have to do grayscale coloring... woo hoo!)<P>Luckily for me I don't have a single long-running story, so I change frequency and b&w-vs-color more easily. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"><P>good luck with semiweekly!

I'd have to agree with the consensus here. I think I'd suggest getting a feel for the two-a-week pace for a while, and if you feel you can (and want to) do more, bump it to three. David's ability to pretty much do any job is the vehicle. Once I figured out that, the stories almost started writing themselves!<P>

Once I feel I can sustain this pace, I'll consider how - or if - to do more. <P>I've got a lot of "found" time. I do all my planning, thinking and storyboarding on the bus to and from work. That adds up to almost 5 hours a week! So when I do sit down to draw, I'm really just drawing.<P>Plus, I don't watch TV regularly anymore.
