I cheated a little with the bats. There's a bat cave at Brookfield Zoo, just outside of Chicago, but Mary and Lori are at Lincoln Park Zoo, which has bats but not a room where they fly freely. Don't tell anyone.

I found out they're making an animated movie out of Neil Gaiman's "Coraline." Unfortunately, it's directed by the guy who did "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and he hasn't done anything good since. Plus it looks like they've Americanized it. I don't think it's going to be stop-motion, though... Who knows.
