I take it you were once Catholic like us?

Yeah. I'm kind of a perfectionist, so I felt better after I stopped, and I've read too much about religion to be awed by it's mysteries. I still think of it as one of the better religions to belong to.

Yeah, I don't have much bitterness towards the church or anything, I just can't buy into it anymore. The ritual and the aesthetic are rather pretty, though.

I'm generic and believe in being "good." I also believe that there is some higher power, but I don't subscribe to any one religion specifically. Though I'm still filled with good old-fashioned catholic guilt. It's hard to shake that kinda thing.

Last time I went to church service was about three years ago, while I was in Georgia visiting the wigfiddle. It was a Church of Christ - fundamentalist Christians. They were very friendly, but then, I didn't exactly announce that I was an atheist, either. Though I did have pink hair at the time, and I'm a yankee. I think they were just so relieved to see him there with a girl that they were willing to overlook my obvious flaws. I should have told them I was married.

I was raised secular; my parents are both either atheists or agnostics, depending on when you ask them. They never tried to instill any belief in me, and I'm grateful for that. Compared to my friends who were raised in various religions, I think I have a much healthier attitude concerning religion in general. There's nothing for me to be bitter about.

I remember going to some church that wasn't Catholic. I remember the pastor telling everyone to bow their heads, close their eyes and raise their hand if they knew they were going to heaven. I was the only one that didn't raise my hand. I was also peeking.

I'm usually able to keep my angry moments either in privacy or among like-minded folks. Pushy atheists are kind of annoying.

I don't know if it's because I was raised Catholic or just because I'm awesome. But either way, I don't regret it.
