Should Skull Girl be rescued?

Post by Megaskunjii »

Now when I say this, I mean in the old-school "Guy saves girl" way, as opposed to "one buddy bails out the other" way. (Suddenly I'm reminded of Battletoads -- never in the series did you ever rescue just a girl. It'd always be a girl AND one of your buddies. For that matter, you had to rescue one of your buddies more often than girls... but I'm rambling)

Essentially, what I want is some female feedback here. On one side, I feel that Skull Girl getting rescued at some point by the Hydromancer is romantic, and it's only logical that at some point Skully's going to get herself a little over her head in trouble, so if someone's going to bail her out it might as well be him.

On the other side, it's clichéd and sexist, plus Skull Girl is quite capable of looking after herself. She lacks experience but makes up for it in raw firepower.

And hence the poll. This will influence the upcoming fight I have planned... so if you ever wanted to play with some of the characters destinies, now would be the time...

For some reason I just don't see it.
Besides, I have to agree that it is a well used cliché. :P

My first post...

As much as I love my Norwegian, I need to disagree with him. It is romantic. No one's questioning the fact that she can take care of herself, because that's obvious. It's not really sexist either, I think. The focus of the story is on her, and we've seen tons of times where she's strong enough to fight for herself. It's only logical that she's not absolutely perfect, she will need help eventually, and why shouldn't it be Hydromancer that swoops in to the rescue? I can completely imagine her getting worked up about it too and trying to convince herself that it was evil of her to let herself be rescued for some reason or another.

Yes but with a twist. I think maybe she should be rescued but there should be some type of irony in the situation -- or maybe it turns out to be a dream or an alternate reality...or something. :D

For those curious, that post was in regards to the fight between Molly and LeFrenchie. She was sort of rescued -- I wanted to demonstrate that she was hesitating and worried, and then Kim stepped in.
