Story arcs are awesome, because they're more organised and its not just daily randomness. The daily randomness is entertaining but I think its better as a story arc.
Don't overuse story arcs, it'll take away the novelty of them and variety is always good. It's like cereal, you see. I eat cereal everyday before I go to school. I have a packet of one serving of different kinds of cereal. That makes it easier to shovel it down my mouth. Imagine eating the same cereal everyday for 6 years...see how you like it.
