Doodles 7 - This cat is a landmine.

This is where past, great threads in the history of our forum go.

It's far, far shorter than that on the rest of the body. I can't imagine a hand being very useful if it had hair that long all over it. That way you could still have some kind of definition for the fingers.

The problem with anthropomorphic characters is balancing the levels of human characteristics to animal.

indeed, shorter fur it needs, and the fur direction needs to go towards the fingers, instead of the other way it goes... see? i AM learning something!

It's an interesting question...I'd say, if you want the hand to realistically have human hand functionality, there's little way around using something that is more or less a human hand.

Image

Possibly with long, claw-like fingernails and fur - longer on the back, getting shorter towards the fingertips, and missing on the palm/inside, where it would be highly impractical. All in all, similar to what you'd see in most werewolf movies...

If you make it more like a paw, it'd certainly look more animal-like, but also somewhat clumsy, with proportions people might subconsciously associate with a baby hand...

VIIstar, you really need to color some of those complicated drawings of yours. It would really make the image more discernable and less difficult to look at.

Also, it would look kickass.

To Brockway: cropping at the ankle is awkward, as is straight cropping at any joint... looks like said character is missing a limb. If you want to not draw feet, we suggest cropping mid bone, like shin or thigh and doing so at an angle.

Au, it's a rough drawing, (as the previous post you mentioned, which is unfinished) hence its posting in the 'doodles' thread. In the latter post I said it needs ink, and ... no color before ink.

with the direction provided by a few folks, well..

it's upside down because i'm working with it that way, easier to make the fur the right direction that way.

it could use some work, but thanks :3

Turnsky, the fur is a billion times better, but the arm width at the end still goes... wonky.

Since people seem to be giving advice on this thread, I'm assuming it's okay to just jump in and give my own? I'd try making her arms a little wider--they look rather thin compared to the rest of her. Her knees also look a little low.

Yeah, the "doodle" moniker is really more of a suggestion. People post finished pics all the time. I only mentioned it because I went to your site and you only seemed to color for chapter covers.

Fanart WIP. You know, I should really check if anatomy is working out before I try coloring my lineart. This girl is going to have a very stiff neck and back if she keeps this up any longer, although in her case, I guess it wouldn't really matter much.
