Too many candidates and we'll have another California election. It'll suck the fun out of campaigning with vitriol and polarizing sides. It's harder to do it if it's all spread out.

So what you're saying is that the candidates need to pick one side of a polarized issue and, having been so divided, fight amongst themselves until one emerges on either side for the actual election?

Didn't the last election also come down to a three way vote between the top candidates? I think that sort of balances out the too-many-candidates problem.
