Round 3 - Series 3: Audiobabe (Sasjhwa 2/0) vs. Candylady (Cookie 0/2)
This has certainly been an exciting round folks, and here is yet another reason why! Audiobabe and Candylady, who met in Series 1, are back in Series 3! Audiobabe is our resident sound mage, while Candylady is our crazy... sorry, MENTAL lady with the eyes of the void. Audiobabe is guaranteed to move on, but Candylady is hoping to make her do so without an extra stat point.
1 - Candylady leaps on Audiobabe, wraps her arms around Audiobabe's neck, her legs around Audiobabe's waist, shoves her face up to Audiobabe until they're nose to nose and say, "HI." Audiobabe's eyes lock to Candylady's... (20 damage)
2 - Audiobabe tries to squeeze her eyes shut, but can't pull her gaze away! She puts her hands on Candylady's chest and pulses an ultrasonic wave through her! Candylady's organs quiver and shake mightily! (14 damage). Candylady refuses to break eye contact though, and the last of Audiobabe's energies are sucked away into Candylady's voidlike eyes. (18 damage).
Winner: Candylady! She stands up shakily, and puts her arms up in victory! The crowd roars their approval, and then quickly avoid looking too long at her. An Ogre slavemaster whips a bunch of little flitting faeries, who pull with all their might like a million harnessed lightning bugs, and drag a cart onto the field. Candylady is taken off in the cart, to the Gold Member Box Seat area where she will get free food, beverages, comfortable seating, and air conditioning, while the games continue.
Loser: AudioBabe. Another slavemaster ogre rides out on another carriage drawn by uncountable numbers of tiny glowing fairies. He steps off, picks up a net, sweeps the air and catches a good hundred fairies. He then crushes the fairies into a batter which he feeds to Audiobabe. Audiobabe glows brightly, is healed, and heads off field, burping up fairie wings.

Battle 3 - Series 3: Unitzoid (Fading Aura 2/0) vs. Noir (AOD 0/2)
Our resident hydromage against the mental two dimensional embodiment of a comic frame. Both these opponents are weak to each other, are very powerful, and have good fan bases. This should be a good match!
1 - Noir snaps off a piece of itself and causes it to hurtle like a razor blade fired from a cannon, right through Unitzoid's leg! (11 damage). Unitzoid drops to one knee in pain, and causes the humidity around Noir to condense and freeze, then explode! Noir is shattered! (11 damage)
2 - Noir's pieces rise from the sands and launch at Unitzoid! Each pierces him, leaving him riddled with hundreds of very tiny holes! (8 damage)
3 - Unitzoid uses his own blood, on Noir. He causes the water content to superheat, scalding Noir unbearably! At the same time, Noir launches again at Unitzoid. There's a loud scream, a steam explosion, and when the dust settles, both combatants are dead. (16 to Noir, 9 to Unitzoid).
The Judges come onto the field...
... The judges call ABOL down from the announcing tower.
We have a strange situation here. Both combatants killed each other simultaneously! There is no winner! By default, the battle goes into sudden death!
*Both Noir and Unitzoid glow, are healed, and come back to life*
The first one to hit the other wins! GO!
1 - Unitzoid draws water out of his pouch, but Noir hurtles itself at Unitzoid and hits him like a sharpened sledgehammer for (9 damage) before Unitzoid can do anything destructive with the water.
Winner: Noir! Noir Glows, is healed, and is led off by a throng of Ogre artists to the Gold Member Box Seat area along with it's manager, AOD, where they will get excellent food and beverages, and an air conditioned viewing area for the rest of the tournament!
Loser: Unitzoid. Chagrinned, he takes his glow and healing, waves to the audience (who cheer him on), and heads off the field.
(note: Both characters did sufficient damage to kill each other; while they had different agilities, the result of their initiative rolls that round were identical - It was always a possibility but this is the first time it's happened.)

And so it comes down to this, the last battle before the semi-finals, and it's an elimination match. Serge, our technical master with his swords that inflict pain without damage, and Net, the magical naga. Net is known to be weak to technical attacks, which may spell trouble for one of our favorite combatants. The winner will proceed to the Semi-finals.
1 - Serge runs forward as Net starts to cast, and runs his blades through Net, belly to back! One sword freezes a path through, the other excites every nerve ending it touches. Net writhes! (13 damage)
2 - Serge follows up by turning and running the blades back through Net, back to belly! This time both burn as they pass through! (14 damage) Net is silly with pain.
3 - Serge begins systematically chopping his blades through Net's body, head to tip of tail. Somewhere along the way, Net takes (15 damage) and dies of a heart attack.
Winner: Serge! Serge glows, gains a stat point, and will be in the semi-finals.
Loser: Net. An ogre dragon trainer hikes out with a bucket of ice, a towel, a cattle prod, and a bucket of hot wings. He rubs down Net with the towel, then hits him in the belly with the cattle prod, sparking his heart back to life! Net sways this way and that until the Ogre puts the bucket of hot wings in front of him. Net chows down with relish, to the cheers of the audience, then is assisted off the field by the trainer. He's given admittance to the Gold Member Box Seating area, along with all the hot wings and beverages he can eat.

Bean (9/0) - Scraggly teenager with a bandanna and coat. Dresses in blacks and blues. He is our physical master of martial arts and quarterstaff. Known to be weak against technical fighters. Undefeated in nine battles.
Serge XIII (7/2) - An extremely pale 17 year old young man. Dresses in a sleeveless hooded sweater. Underneath that he wears a black log sleeve T-shirt with the left sleeve ripped off, that arm covered in bandages. He keeps a blindfold at his neck and has brown hair, purple eyes. He is a technical fighter wielding two swords, "Eternal Sphere" and "Valhalla", which cause pain in a variety of ways without physical damage. He is known to be weak against physical attackers. He is privately thought to be the one person who can stop Bean.
Audiobabe (7/2) - A blonde super-hero in a green swimsuit costume with knee boots and gloves. On her left breast she has a treble clef emblem. She's magical attacker with the ability to produce and control sound to devestating effect. She's known to be weak against mental attacks. Fortunately for her, there are no more mental attackers. She's expected to be a tough fight for...
Unitzoid (7/2) - A member of the Federated Guild of Superheroes, Unitzoid is a fairly new recruit after working independently with Aura in the superhero/detective business. He too is a magician - able to do anything imaginable with water molecules. And he too is weak against mental attackers, of which there are none.

Next up, grudge matches! And then... the semi-finals!

You may notice that Linkara comes into play when the battles are long. Short battles have a tendency to be intense.

Ah, so it's more of a timing issue then. Each round that a combat lasts, it increases the percentage chance of a Linkara death.
Wonder what that equasion would look like, and whether there is a point in time where a Linkara death is CERTAIN.

I think that it takes Linkara a couple seconds to find his seat again between rounds so he misses the first minute or so of most fights. If it is a short match he doesn't even get to see it at all!
He should be given season tickets for the next tournament, don't you think?

Either that or allow him to be a co-announcer in the next series. Hey, who ever said that the announcer's booth was safe from the devastation?
