Heh. Something you didn't know about me, eh? How about how I realized I needed to stop drinking?
I started drinking at 15. By 16, I was drinking to the point of not being able to remember days out of my life. When I was 17, I went with my girlfriend to a party after school on Friday. I do not remember that night. When I woke up, I was buck naked in a cornfield and the sun was shining down on me.
It took me a few minutes to get my bearings and find my clothing. While looking for my shirt, I found my girlfriend (also nekked) and woke her up. Got her dressed and started looking to see where we were.
Found the car after another few minutes, also in said cornfield. (btw, car going through cornfield leaves a pretty easy trail to follow back to the road.) Got back on the road and started driving.
Now, keep in mind, I'm from Ohio. After about thirty minutes, I turned to her and said, "You have any idea where we are?"
She hadn't a clue. Finally found a gas station and asked where we were and what day it was.
...
Now, again, let me remind you. I started drinking on Friday in Ohio. It was now Tuesday, and we were in some town outside of Frankfort, Kentucky.
Roughly 240 miles and 4 1/2 days later. I joined the Marines the very next day (after a LOOONNNGGG explanation to my parents where the HELL I was) and left for bootcamp two weeks after graduating from High School.
3 months of bootcamp sobered me right up, and I haven't touched a drop since.

Trust me, it worked out for the best... being a designated driver was a blast in the Marines.
