Whoops. Thinking no one had seen it yet, I've changed the colour scheme of my logo to be approximately similar to RPin's original.

Sheesh. Wait two hours for a comment and then a huge pile tumbles in all at once. Image

I like this design. Especially the way you design the C and G as the logo. Truly stylish.

When will the actual name change take place anyway?

I was never very fond of the Comic Genesis name myself, but with a logo like Joel's glowy one it absolutely rocks.

Yeah yeah, this one. It's great. If this name is not used by Keen, it must be used by someone. Anyone want to start a webcomic collective? :)

Nice logos. Phalanx is best. I think I should've voted for Comic Gen.

Edit 1: Faub, if you like, you can email your design to me. I'll host it. joelfagin at hotmail dot com.

Edit 2: Slightly different version doodled in an attempt to avoid drawing my next comic. Attempt 100% sucessfull.

And suddenly we have a halo-motif instead of an atom. Alas, we lose the stylised initials.

It is some professional work.
Do you know I used to earn a living by creating simple logo like this?
Actually the simpler the better. (Of course it has to be unique and meaningful.)

Judging from my site, you might not suspect that I was once a graphic designer for few years. I kind of got tired of the tedious process of designing. Espically I hate making dozens and dozens of idea thumbnails I thought would be suitable, and only one is utlimately needed. I once spent two days and made 24 drafts for a instant rice packaging. And for shame, the client decided to use his own design at the end. I still got paid by hours though.

I do get paid for creating logos like that! Image Also teaching students how to create logos almost like that but not as good or else I'd have too much competition.

Actually, it's mostly a hobby since I doodle logos and websites and things when I'm bored. I take any job that happens my way but I usually don't go hunting for them. Being a lecturer gives me more free time to write and comic than graphic design would.

I didn't know who made this logo when I replied. I just recognized the professional quality in that design. I knew it wasn't pulled out of a hat in a second. Making an Adobe Illustrator file from a hand drawn image, would take me an hour. (Another thing I got tire of being a professional graphic artist.)

I really like this one. The atom would be a very nice symbol for Comicgen.
I'm assuming we would have to use a flat version in most cases, though. Minus the glow, I mean. It rocks.

Joel, I love the design, but it's a bit hard to look at. Too cluttered? Maybe tone down the glow a bit? Or add a contrasting color? I dunno, but when I look at it, my eyes can't decide where to go first. It's confusing.

Phalanx, I still see the planet first and G second. My eyes just skipped straight over the G as if it wasn't there at all.

My two cents.

It might be partially that I designed it on a black background. Depending which forum skin you're using, you could be getting a great deal of glare and having a glowy thing in the middle doesn't help that.

I'll see, though. It usually takes me a day or so to get to the point where I can look at my own designs objectively. I won't bother trying now.

Only in print, I think. I mean, whatever logo we end up with will be used mainly on the web and colour and complexity are both very cheap indeed on the web.

Anyway, here's the base design, shorn of all effects and colour. Colour scheme is pretty much optional with this one anyway. It can be pretty much anything.

In retrospect, I really should've just put that up to start with, actually.

I'm using Subsilver. That could be it. Light background + glowy things = ow.

I like the black and white one, but the text is still hard for me to read. Maybe it's because Genesis is all connected? I dunno. :-?

It's a really cool design though.

You have comepletely and seriously sold me on Comic Genesis as being the name if that is now our logo.
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

Ah yes, I think I like it better flat. Not to say the glow didn't look nice as well.

Oh, good. I use subSilver as well and I did notice a glare problem when I first put it up. It's the rapidly changing contrast from light, to the black background, to glowiness. Your eyes dont know what light level to adapt to and they get stressed.*

I'll keep an open mind, but I'll pencil that in as the problem for now.

Now that it's in black and white, you may be right. The connecting bars look like they might be a bit thick.
