From a marketing point of view, the easier to remember the better. "Toonspace", even though it really doesn't do justice to Jakkal's awesome comic along with many others, but it's easy on the tongue and the brain. "WebComicSpace" takes too long to say.

Personally, "StorySpace.com" would have been a good choice too. Few syllables and a little alliteration to help it roll off the tongue.

Erm.. I have have problems with both.. webcomicspace is, like yeahduff said, too long and clunky, and toonspace does sound awfully kiddy... To be hoenst, apathy has hit me hard over this one, which is a bit of a shame. Looks like it's going to be webcomicspace, though. Hmm, wonder if we can turn that K logo into a W...

I fit well and truly into the PG-13 and below category, but I don't refer to my stuff as kiddy stuff. I feel a little bit off claiming my work as 'toons' because I feel it doesn't do the strip (or many other strips) justice. And yes, this is bringing the more widely accepted, modern definition of the word 'cartoon' into play.

But honestly, I don't really care if people are coming to visit schoolspirit.keenspace.com, schoolspirit.webcomicspace.com, schoolspirit.toonspace.com or schoolspirit.lotsofspace.com.

As long as they're coming to visit School Spirit, all's fine with me.

I have no idea what the immense interest in doombees is though, that's one's escaped me...

To say being referred to as a cartoonist or your work as a cartoon is a slap in the face is completely asinine and in fact is a slap in the face to all the great artists who have referred to themselves as cartoonists.

Hey, I don't agree with it but, like I said, it's a hard thing to fight. Print comics have been trying for fifty years to get away from the superhero connotation and made practically no headway at all. Yes, to those educated in the field, the definitions are different, broader and more lofty, but they're a minority and they dhave little effect on the mutation of our language.

Seeing that people don't really like toonspace or webcomicspace, I've started the FINAL list of names. We're going to suggest names in 24 hours. At the end of the 24 hours were'e going to vote on the best suggestions. The one that wins we put forward as the name and let it be the end of it.

I second that. Chris makes the announcement of the name change. A number of Spacers don't care for the name. Instead of saying "tough shit" he comes back and says "here, I'll let you vote between these two" (webcomicspace was suggested in another thread). Then he gets blasted for that.
My comic is called Mista Mojo. Not Mista Mojo Keenspace. Not Mista Mojo Toonspace. Mista Mojo. The domain really doesn't matter. Most people will book mark you if they like you and won't give a second look at it. Where it becomes an issue is when you print your domain on products. But that's easily rectified by spending $10 of your own money per year and registering your own.

One thing to note, as I understand how Kisai has coded things and how things are generated:

We can give folks the choice of their domain. So we can do:

ToonSpace -- Safe comics.
StripSpace -- R and X rated (we'll have to do self-serve ads on this one)
SpaceChan -- Anime/Manga related, maybe furry.
WebComicSpace* -- The catchall

As well as

dotsig.org -- Donated domain

To do this, we would have to modify the DB slightly for signups, tweak the code to generate the multiple hosting domains. Any one of us can do that.
