Keenspace will soon be Toonspace

This is where past, great threads in the history of our forum go.

Postby Rianeva on Mon May 23, 2005 6:16 pm

For what it's worth, I threw this out in another chatroom I hang out in...

[18:44] <Rianeva> question: medialia.toonspace.com, medialia.stripspace.com, or medialia.webcomicspace.com?
[18:44] <Raiun> Stripspace? :P
[18:44] <Raiun> Uhm..
[18:45] <Raiun> Webcomicspace sounds least lame/suggestive.
[18:45] <Rianeva> Heh.
[18:45] <Iblis> I like the sound of stripspace, it might give people the wrong idea.

Eh, not that it matters anyway. But I'm liking stripspace. =p

Wish I could get my domain to work, though...

Not even sure I've ever heard neek before - but wouldn't those make this kind of an AMIME-ONLY kinda vibe?.

I suggested it on a jokingly manner, but chan is also short for channel, it's what I was thinking ogf then.

And Beyond-Alpha - I've never laughed more heartily at a flaming cross... you're a bad, bad person, and you amuse me greatly.

Seems I accidently added a little to the top of that "T".

Ah well...

You could have made it a lower case T.

It's 'keen' spelled backwards.

But you know what?

I don't care anymore. I'm just sick of this griping and whining and sniping and what not. No matter what how hard you try, there's always someone who won't be satisfied.

I hope you guys manage to find a good alias. With luck, maybe it'll be better accepted than Toonspace. And thanks to Chris and co. for putting up with this with patience.

But I think I'm going to bow out of this one, because I'm tired, cranky and I think something in me just died inside and I'm not too sure what it is.

I'll leave you guys to it. Catch ya later.

STrRedWolf, we register our domain, would it be hosted on the space server? Or would we need our own host then direct it to the space servers?

It'll be hosted on the Space servers.

the only problem is with the credits. The ONLY one. Even if you get your own domain, you still have to have toonspace on every page in the credits. So if we could credit our hosting to another name, I don't care what the actual URL is, and neither should you.

Remember, if it's an epic comic, you can always tell people your URL is "medialia.theelven.com", and it will work just fine. "yourcomichere.theelven.com", and so forth. Want a more risky URL (er, risque rather)? "yourcomichere.ghastlycomics.com" works just fine.

Want it to be doombees? Buy doombees, park it on keenspace, then pass it out to your friends. "anything.doombees.com" will work.

Until they break it. :)

Yeah, but people aren't going to judge your comic by your hoster. Most people don't even read it.

Eh. It's a silly name. But in the end, it doesn't matter. A year from now we'll all be used to toonspace, and be wondering how we could ever have liked keenspace more. =p Anyways, I don't think we can change it now, so... we'll have to live with it. (though I still think stripspace would be hilarious. =p)

It's about time this announcement had some positve feedback.

I think it's sort of late to complain or suggest anything now. We'll just learn to like it, I guess.

The T still troubles me, tho. :D

It's like we're always a step behind. When change of name is decided, we discuss about the need of a name change. When the name is announced, we discuss about other options for name...

I'm having just a little trouble making it feel like home. I guess, deep down, I'm just a Keenspacer at heart. :(

I'll get used to telling people the new url, but Keenspace will always be home for me, however nerdy/geeky/dorky that may sound. However, I've always told people this (because it's true): It's not the hosting or the name that I love about this place--it's the people. And no name change gets in the way of that.

Can't say I love the new name, but I guess all I'll have to change is the "hosted by" line, so I won't complain too much. :)
