I like "generators"

Post by Chris Crosby »

Welcome to Comic Genesis, everybody.

Joel, if I haven't said so yet (or even if I have), thank you very much for the logo. It's awesome.

Kelly and Kisai, when you get a chance, it'd be great if you could update the GUIDE with the new name and logo. It's currently displaying my ancient KeenSPACE logo. *shudder*

Also, something to think about: "New Worlds. New Dreams." is a nice tagline, but I think it could be even better if the tagline had the word "space" in it. You know, as a nod to history, plus a nod to describing the service (we provide space :>). You know, something like "SPACE FOR NEW WORLDS AND NEW DREAMS" or "SPACE TO CREATE THE ICONS OF TOMORROW."

Or something preferably much better than either of those. :)

Just a thought or two. Thanks for complaning, everybody!

"Launch your dreams into our space"
"Pioneer our space with your worlds"
"Our space, your worlds"

I'm no good at slogans!

We should have a monthly tagline contest, so we can keep the taglines fresh and different ;)

You have no idea how much I love you right now

would this be our second impact considering how it changed our reality and screwed things up for a bit, but the world is returning to normal, sort of?
wait, to make this work we need to clone Chris Crosby and re-engineer him to do battle against himself...

Also, I vote for "We were almost Toonspace"
"Space For the Commie Generals"
"This Space Reserved... for The Future!"
or "Another waste of keen space"

You see, it's clever because keen kinda means cool I think, and, well yeah...

(EDIT)
OOOH!
Reference Keenspot as well maybe?
"Two sites, one humanity"
or "Two sites, one purpose" or some other variation?
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

I'm drawing a blank here. Maybe it's just to late to be thinking.

No prob Chris. I loved explaining how much i disliked toonspace. :p

I'll see if i can help with the tagline.
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

Okay, reading up on this topic:

I like the name ComicGenesis. It's eons better than ToonSpace or WebcomicSpace (though I still love DoomBees) and, as little as I want to admit it, it IS cooler sounding than KeenSpace. That name doesn't much sense when you think of it.

One thing I'd really like to see, though, is a simple, fact-file instruction sheet pointing out exactly why the name has been changed, what we have to change on our webpages and when everything has to be changed, preferably sent via e-mail to every 'Spacer (though a post on the main page would work as well). The point of this would of course be to give everyone, including the thousands of people who don't come to the forums, a clear idea of what is going on and what to do about it, something I feel has been very neglected in this process. Plus it would stop all the new people coming to the forum utterly confused and and complaining about 'not being told'.

About the guide rankings depending on fanart count, I'm not very fond of that idea. Fanart depends more on the type and dedication of a comic's fans than on the comic's actual popularity. For example Earthsong receives an ungodly amount of fanart with each update, whereas The noob has a total of 5 fanarts that aren't related to it's anniversary drive - and both are excellent comics that receive thousands of hits every day. (In general, I think story comics, especially fantasy ones, get a lot more fanart than gag comics do). Going with the simple number of hits - or even better, the number or hits on that particular day (which I always thought was what the Guide already did) - seems more fair to me.

Also, Space-chan isn't dead - she's just resting! :D
