And as I reckon, the main con for the "webcomicspace" is that it's bland and not catchy. It tells everything about the site but you'll have to repeat that several times until the person you speak to remembers.Mr.Bob wrote:Inkspace is already in use.
[POLL] Choose Your Favorite Potential Name For Keenspace
I agree with this. I prefer it over Toonspace, but it's still so... "blah." I like the idea of keeping "space" at the end, but we need something better.mcDuffies wrote:And as I reckon, the main con for the "webcomicspace" is that it's bland and not catchy. My problem with "webcomicspace.com" is that it sounds like yet another URL using a variation of the word "webcomic" that we've seen on sites with similar names. (webcomic.net, topwebcomics.com, thewebcomicslist.com, OnlineComics.net, etc.)
I went with toonspace because it's the shorter URL, and it differentiates itself from other webcomic sites. Preferably, I would pick something that really stands out. Drunkduck is a great example of a webcomic site with a unique, catchy name. The new Keen should have something like that.

OK, I didn't want to be the one to have to break it to y'all, but this topic is completely obsolete. There is not a ghost of a chance (I hope) of either of those names being the new Keenspace name. As far as we know, it's going to be ComicGenesis or (if the trademark is a bit shaky) SharpComics. We voted.
Yes.
In before Iraq.
There's a good chance that people are going to be allowed to choose their URL, instead of having to vote. Some people are trying to get Crosby to accept at least one other possibility, or perhaps just one. However, they've already paid for toonspace and I believe webcomicspace, so the chances are thin, IMHO.

It's not a democracy. The names voted on were mere suggestions for the consideration of the fab four.AsterAzul wrote:OK, I didn't want to be the one to have to break it to y'all, but this topic is completely obsolete. So it could still end up being toonspace or webcomicspace.

Hey, Crosby DID infact start this thread. If he initialized it than it actually has a good chance. But I do agree both of those names do suck.AsterAzul wrote:Not if my bullwhip and sense of justice have anything to say about it!!
...Oh, wait. This is the internet.
Goddamit.
I'm glad 90's style forum signatures don't exist anymore.

What happens is that if you do "edit URL" , it will change the domain priority
So if people type in http://www.ghastlycomic.com, they get http://www.ghastlycomic.com , but if ghastly selects ghastly.webcomicspace.com then even people typing in http://www.ghastlycomic.com will get directed to ghastly.webcomicspace.com
However other peoples domains are only available if "officially" registered to that comic. Otherwise the choice is keenspace.com , toonspace.com and webcomicspace.com unless some other global version is picked.

So, why don`t we start begging them?! Pweeeese...Pillywiggin wrote: It's not a democracy. The names voted on were mere suggestions for the consideration of the fab four.

The name Keenspace has nothing to do with webcomics, so why does it have to be "toon" or "webcomic" now??? Please tell me. I really don`t understand. There are so many better "spaces" out there. Why?...

I get the impression there will be one umbrella name, that is not keen, plus some other choices. The other possibility is that the different names will be displayed equally, "both" or "all three" being the names, but none of those will be keen.sketch286 wrote:i kinda like the several names thing. If we had lotsa names would the main page still be keen? And what if you don't know what rating your comic will take? Then I guess you couldn't really choose a name based on that.
KeenSpace is going away entirely by this time next year. No variant of Keen will survive the purge. Only KeenSpot, KeenSwag, KeenToons, and possibly KeenPrime will survive (okay quickeen and warpkeen and keenpremium but you get what I mean).
