i keep looking back at mort's picture and while it occurs to me that there is something mis proportionate there i'm actually having a tough time putting a finger on it. It looks to me like the arms are too long, but then other things seem off, it almost looks like the attempt was to do forced perspective and just didn't accomplish that. All the parts seem okay they're just not in proportion to each other.

Was not.

What happened to it being a thread that one could just post absent-minded doodles without getting fully involved critiques?

I think we've all just grown either too defensive or too judgemental. We should all just take a step back and breathe some. We're all here to have fun, ya know?

Critique is fine, but I think its safe to assume that unless someone asks for it specifically, we should reserve it for the TTT/Comic Pitching forums.

i think mort's statement here shows an inability to use italics correctly, he needs to take more classes and focus on more bold and underlined text.

edit: and apparently my inability to see that he used bold and not italics.

I like this. I bet it'd be neat done in wire as a 3D display.

I'd pay money to see a real version of that in 3D wire. THAT is modern art...

I particularly like the use of the dark blue as the main foreground color, contrasts well with the yellow background. The other colors are nicely muted, somewhat pastel-like.

So, the only text replies we can make are gushing 'that's soooo pretty!' comments? Cause that sounds really weak.

I tried doing something a little more 3-D with that style, but it was with glass and failed miserably. Wire's certainly an idea.

That's the first time I've ever used a colored background rather than white or black. Wasn't even my idea! So far, I'm happy with the results.

And I've heard the comparison of these to rubber bands before.

I want to eat his swirly confetti brains! :D

You could definately do some fun stuff with him, especially with the right background.

Yes, let us attack the "artist" instead. He's obviously the next potential candidate to bash since Something Awful's has attacked very close to home twice in the same week. No wait, Mort's obviously wrong to show off art at all in the first place. In fact, he should just keep it the trash bin where it belongs.

we could always alternate, if the post above you is very good you should post something very critical and vice versa.

That's a stupid idea! NYAH! :P

The neatest part is when I'm done and start flipping around the layers of the different colors I've used on the figure. It's crazy how different it can come out looking. But yeah, I'm hoping to evolve it to more than just flat backgrounds. Unless that doesn't work... :shifty:

Beg pardon? Look, no-one attacked the artist til he got on the defensive all 'YOU do better!' And even then it stuck to comments on his work for a while.

You are confusing me now, Komiyan. Are you talking about Bob or me? Moreso, I have no idea what went down in that thread yet because I haven't looked. I never said "YOU do better", nor asked for critique to begin with. You do realize that in the post you just quoted, that I (which is me) was attacking myself (me again) in that post, right?
