Okay, I've never told anyone this. Friends, family, nobody knows this secret. I think Star Wars sucked. Not the new ones. The original one. I've tried to watch it on several occassions and I can't get through it. Horrible acting. Cheesy dialogue. And flat out boring. I went to the theater rerelease and was just as unimpressed. The only reason I think it did well in the 70's cause everyone was high (and that's a proven fact!) The Empire Strikes Back was pretty cool but other than that the rest of the series sucked IMO. For too long I've nodded in agreement when friends have spoke of the original like it was their own child. But no more. Sucks! Sucks! Sucks!
There, I said it. Now I brace for the backlash.

My secrets
- I'm a softy. I may be a hardass on the outside, but inside I'm a wreck.
- My self-confidences is as low as dirt at the moment.
- I'm very, very, very, easily stressed out.
- I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I'll get this degree but I keep thinking "Is this *really* want I want to do with the rest of my life?!"
Sorry to sound very pessimistic, I've have being going through a EXTREMELY stressful few months lately

I guess the original Star Wars just doesn't work for some people. I saw it when I was a kid, so anything involving spaceships and laser battles was insta-cool, and I loved it. You're right about the acting and dialogue, but something about the movie as a whole makes you gloss over the weak parts. It's just a fun, balls-out, endlessly creative adventure movie.
And we take whiz-bang special effects and CGI for granted these days, but this stuff blew people's minds back in 1977. Think of how cool The Matrix's "bullet-time" trick was, multiply it by a hundred, and you'll have an idea of how audiences reacted to lightsaber battles and X-Wing fighters.

Well that's part of it. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital. Going in for the same thing twice in six months. Nerves shot to hell. Went up and saw him Saturday. Didn't get home until early Sunday. Sleep, work, then homework until 1am (it's all due at midnight...so I know I'll get docked. Oh well.)
I'm just beat in more ways than one at the moment. School is stressful enough. Then another family member in the hosptial. I swear that I have had a member in the hospital every month this year!
Once student teaching is done, I'm taking a few days off to just "be".
