...toon suggests cartoons, moving pictures. I'm kind of disapointed. I kinda hoped for more relevence to comics... some respect. I don't want to get blasted for saying this... I really don't... but... I'm not a toon.

Now that I've finally figured out how to squeeze anything worth reading in 2 pages, I think it's pretty safe for me to say I'm in for the next sampler.

I like the new name. (I'm not thrilled but I like it) But I am curious, how soon until the urls redirect to toonspace.com and how soon until the newsbox starts working with the new url? I want to get started on the HTML but it seems to screw with the newsbox. (must hold off on the update until that starts working)

Mass confusion as people confuse Keentoons with Toonspace. Robot and Cactus not pleased.

The scary thing is that that might actually happen...

The word "Toon", which was popularized by the film WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, does have more connection in most minds to animation than to static comic strips. But it could be noted that in the novel on which the film is based (WHO CENSORED ROGER RABBIT), Roger Rabbit is a COMIC STRIP star, not an animated cartoon star. Yet he is still referred to as a "toon."

"Toon," in my book, is a shorthand way to refer to anything that's drawn.

Robotbox and Space Cactus. Can't forget the box part. And toon as a synonym for sequential art has a history, so can't really complain too much there.

You are all going to have to animate your comics from now on anyhow. So do it. Now.

Yeah, that is their offical names, but us close friends just call them Robot and Cactus or Bot and Tus for short.
And I'm fine with Toonspace. Give it time. We are so use to Keenspace calling it anything but will sound strange. By the end of the year we won't even remember keen.

I have never said, and never will say, "read some of my toons" because regardless of Roger Rabbit's 1950's origins, a cartoon is an ANIMATION, not a comic. The word may once have applied, but that connotation is outdated, and the current definition doesn't fit. If this were a site primarily for flash toons, which might in the future start hosting comics also, that would make sense, but not the other way around. I love all of the wonderful services and the community that Keenspace offers... but if there is ANY remote possibility of reconsidering that name, I hope they will. It's NOT ACCURATE. We are a webCOMIC community.

I usually call mine Strips, but I guess Stripspace wouldn't look so good on the G rated sites ^_^

anyway, Toonspace isn't nearly as bad as it could have been. Komicspace would have made me flench to type out in my URL. I'm trying to get away from the bad spelling stigma I've created for myself.

I really don't like this name. At all. A lot of people in chat also are quoting disgust over it, yet aren't posting here.
:( is all I say. :(

How long till we get our name changed again due to brand confusion with KeenToons?

=/

It's going to be hard to retain dignity when handing out my "toons"pace cards... at least keen was kind of neat.

Well, they could have called it "freewebhostingforstevecauseheistoocheaptogethisowndomain.com" but Chris and I both agreed that was too much to type.

Really. I'm looking at the chat now and I have the logs. Who is 'quoting disgust' over the new name?

I could have sworn the general consensus seems to be "not that great, but it could have been much worse".
