My trip to Ann Arbor

The happening place to be. Unless you go somewhere else that's more stimulating.

Quick question: were folks planning on staying for the saturday, or will friday be the last full day before we all head home?

Well, since I've got the flight booked, the hotel room booked, there really is only one thing left to settle...

*WHERE* are we going to meet?

Guys, I don't like saying this and I'm sure you don't like hearing it either but I might need to reconsider.
I've forgotten something important that I must attend during the 22nd through 24th of august.

However, Denmark is not far away and if I could possibly travel late on Monday(first I've got an exam) or early tuesday morning, which would mean I'd make two days in Copenhagen. I could possibly miss out on a day of that other thing on the 22nd to win some extra time.

Still, it is really narrow and while I'll definately try my best to make it, it might not be at all. So be prepared. I don't feel good bailing since I started it, and I really want to go.

You can say you were held hostage by some weirdos you met online afterwards if they ask why you missed the event...

ShannC, you better be there, or we'll give you a wedgie next time around! But yeah, please try to make it even if it's only for a few days.

I'm thinking somewhere central and easy to find for the out-of-towners, although I don't have any specific suggestions just yet. I'll have a talk with Mr. T and hear if he has any bright ideas. Xander, where in town is your hotel?

BTW, what time of day should we meet up? Stick to our old standard of 3 PM?

According to the map, corner of Vesterbrogade and Dannebrogsgade. Not quite in the centre, more off to the south really...

And 3 PM works for me - since I'm flying in on monday, it'll at least give me the chance to find the place and get my bearings.

That's actually quite close to the city center.

So, Tuesday 3 PM. Mr. T and I talked about our initial meeting spot being a specific café on Rådhuspladsen, the city hall square - he'll go check out if it's become too popular to get a seat (on account of being good), and then report back soon-ish.

OMG... I'm booked!

So, I'll be with you from Tuesday to Friday afternoon. Since I'm an eco-terrorist I will take the train back and forth to Malmö and bus over the bridge. My budget is really slim this time so it'll be hostel again for me. This particular hostel is called "Sleep in heaven", which naturally sets off a few alarms. :D

Hopefully I won't wake up tied to a chair with a gag-ball in my mouth but hey, it's cheap!

Well, I'm back from my two weeks in the US. Good news is I think the visa application went well. The bad news is that the trip ended up being more expensive than anticipated. I've run the maths over a hundred times but even with Mr T's generous offer to let me stay at his place I'm simply not going to be able to afford to make it to Copenhagen this year. I'm really sorry for letting you know so late but I kept hoping I'd find a solution, which sadly hasn't been the case. I promise I'll make it to whereverwe meet up next year, and I look forward to hearing all about this year's antics, complete with pictures

Baresso is okay around 3ish. I'll arrive a bit earlier and secure some proper seats.
Peter, you'll be missed, but we'll toast in your name, at least once, and then backstab and be horrible.
Looking forward to seeing you guys.
Mr. T aka Foob.

Well that's it then:

The End of Things meet-up at The Baresso café, Rådhuspladsen (on the corner of Jernbanegade), Tuesday August 19th at 3 PM.

Be seeing you guys! And whoever else might make it - anyone else interested?

Yeah. I'll be great, but I'm really low on money, not that I expect to use all that much...

Perhaps I'll go a bit more noodles and less restaurant this time around. You can't mar the beer consumption at least.
