I'm glad you got it. I was worried that people might miss the reference. Man, I havn't seen that movie in quite a while. I really should go back and re-watch the movies from my impressionable years again. (I listened to "Oh Yeah" today so I'm in a nostalgic mood).

"Enough talk!", and then pretend to throw a dagger at the other guy or the whole "Crush your enemies..." speech (which is supposedly a quote from Gengis Khan.)

You're making me cry...so go outside and play. And stay away from paint fumes... And highways... And for God's sake, keep your hand out of the cat!
------------------

Yeah Destroyer sucked but the "enough talk" bit redeemed it, if you ask me.

quote:

cmon.. you cant honestly say you understood a word of Arnold's "crush your enemies" speech the first time you heard it.. ?

Yup. Understood all but the last line. I was only 5 when I first saw it, so I didn't fully understand what "hear the lamentation of the women" ment. My dad figured it was nessicary for me to be raised on violent, sexist movies.
My friend and I occasionally buy racks of ribs, roast chickens, sausage, etc... rip our shirts off and sit down and watch Conan the Barbarian and grunt while we eat. It's great fun.

I'm no expert on asian history, but I heard once that the speech conan gave was a poor translation of something ghengis kahn or some mongol king gave once. Of course I can't remember the time or the source or really anything, so I might be so far off on this that nothing could be further from the truth. Any profs in the house?
JB
------------------

I'm not a historian but the original quote from Gengis Khan is suposedly: "The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters." also Khan's general was named Subedei while Conan's friend is called Subotai.
