The slow load time was a problem with all the comics hosted by keenspace, it's fixed now.
So it won't be a problem now.

I think the thing that would speed things up the most would be making sure that all tags have width and height attributes properly set. That way the browser can determine the page layout before the images finish downloading and display the page faster. This important in pages that use tables for layout because the table can't be sized until everything in it is downloaded.
I looked at the html of the page and noticed that the ad at the top of the page doesn't have width and height on it. That means the browser can't layout the rest of the page until the ad has finished downloading. And we all know that ad servers are not always the fastest to respond. Same goes for the links at the bottom of the page (ie Top 100 Comic sites etc..)
You might want to look at the img tags before starting a radical redesign.
[This message has been edited by Flunx (edited 01-25-2001).]
[This message has been edited by Flunx (edited 01-25-2001).]

The front page does load slow. One solution may be to break up the tables, so that one table at the top displays the comic, then the table underneath it contains the news box etc, then the links, etc. Right now you have everything inside one table (there're even tables *within* the table) which makes it very slow and hard to load.
Keep up the good work, BTW.

Yeah, Front Page writes some funky HTML, I for one code everything in notepad, makes for more compatibility that way (And the HTML will be a lot simpler but do the same thing). If you need help with your html CDC, just say the word. My ICQ number is 65601329 but I

(The Shadows are sulking.)
The pages load fine on a cable modem. Except of course when the server grinds to a halt.
I'm outta here.
Dark Knight http://dk.keenspace.com/

It's fine, it loads in 5 seconds. But i have a cable modem. Right now its going at about 20 seconds, although it is midnight on a friday, and all the Poe's* out there are on.

because you asked...
The page takes stupidly long to load, far more than it seems it should for the tiny amount of graphics there, and more than any other comic, Keenspace/spot or other that I can think of, although the actual comic loads quite quickly, so it doesn't end up being much of a problem.
[This message has been edited by Pikel (edited 01-29-2001).]
