Is it better to give or recieve?

Gift giving is all that Christmas is about.

The obligatory Christmas swag post

Post by Voiceless »

Gotta have one of these. Have to admit that it's the first Christmas out of the last few that it's been better to recieve than give. (To quote a convo I had with my little brother 'I get a perverse joy from making people smile' XD)

I'll talk first about what I've got loving my back right now. :3~~~~ They're called MP3 cushions. It's a chair cushion (duh) that's got two little speakers in the shoulders. But that's not the greatest part about them. Five little motors, baby. That's right, it massages too. I'm in heaven, Amy Lee's serenading my ears as the cushion serenades my back with little rubblies. ^____^

Kay, moving on. XD

- "Welcome To The Black Parade" ~ My Chemical Romance.
(Yeah yeah, say what you want. It's a good CD and Track 11 has me hooked, it's funny as hell)

- Pants. Really nice pants. Whose pants are these anyways? Are they Tommy's? Or Billy's?

- Wii Points Card. Retro gaming goodness ^_^

Stocking:

- Gum. Mmm, Spearmint.

- A little whistle/compass/LED penlight keychain thingy.

- Armageddon (the movie. I'll be trading that one in ;D)

- Some rechargable Triple-A batteries. I use them for my MP3 Player, so it's all good.
Happy Caption Fun Time every Wednesday on the tagboard. Be there or be a sad panda. ^^

Too cowardly to surrender

I've actually been kind of pissed lately because it seems that the many things (not necessarily Christmas-related) I do for my friends just gets blown off, so I'm going to say recieve, simply because friendship should go both ways and it hasn't for me.

But from my mom (who kind of did/does owe me):

I don't really care if anybody gets me things for Christmas (or Solstice) so I have to say give, I take great pleasure in somebody opening a present of not just one of the things they asked for (the only thing they were expecting) but EVERYTHING they asked for :) the only part of this time of year I actually like.

I don't have the money to make everyone happy. I can't really afford to do that for one person.

But I do have the money to sustain myself and be a burden to no one. That's pretty good for 20, at least in my area.

My mom is always a little peeved when I tell her I don't want anything for Christmas. I don't think she ever saw why I really didn't want her to buy me anything; I didn't actually have a decent place to sleep, so I wanted her to save enough money to rent a better place. I knew she'd keep buying petty things and saying, "I saw this place BUT...," yet still feel that she couldn't do anything. So I left.

Mom bought me clothes, which I needed and appreciate, and a gift certificate to a nice resturant which I like but don't need. She also bought me towels and bedsheets, which I had told her I had. But my stepfather was smart and gave me two cds and cold hard cash, which will buy groceries for a while.

I laugh at people that think gift certificates and money is a cop out.
I'm bored.

I got a scanner! XD But the stupid thing didn't come with a USB cable so I can't connect it to my computer. I'm going to have my parents take me to go get one as soon as I can.

I think it's healthy to like giving AND receiving. If no one cared if they received.... what would be the point in giving? There'd be no joy in the thank you.

I got a Wii from Will , games and an MP3 from parents, new Fables from Kris, SCA clothes from Shawna.

I got Will a car, my Dad a set of headphones that the people at the hearing aid store said he'd be able to hear the words to music again with, me mom a bathrobe and a painting of a tower, and Kris a Bruce Campbell box set and Shawna I took to a show on the 26th.

So yeh, my family has much love for the Christmas. I'm ratherconvince that be side food and shelter it's why we work all year ^^

"every fool that walks around with merry christmas on his lips should be boiled in a vat of his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart! Bah! Humbug!"

quote from one of my favorite plays, but not really my feeling on the subject...
