Kay, here's my theory. I don't know how it works in mythology as to what she really is (name of Fae; if she even is one. I think it's been implied that she's human.), but I think Laura's an agent of Chaos. A force of malicious randomness that seems to delight in using other's emotions and thoughts against each other.

Her spying seems to corroborate this as does her more recent spellcasting and eavesdropping. It would also make sense as to why Phrix was so eager to dump her off on Truth. She was destroying his kingdom (and probably cramping his style, haha) with her brand of destruction. It also seems to be that the low population of the Island is not to her liking. Perhaps she needs more people in order to sew her Chaos?

Just a few thoughts, mostly unformed and developed through sleep deprivation. Any suggestions, additions and 'wtf r u thinking, yr ttally rong!!!!1111oneone' are definitely welcome. It IS a discussion after all ;D

well, Phrix didn't seem to know anything about her, and wanted to pawn her off mainly because he seemed genuinly concerned for her well being... not only that but she seemed to have him VERY fooled... However, it would explain why she had no aura if she is nothing more than a tool of chaos...

The horseman of war was once depicted as a woman...

All humans have aura's,(look at Cat and Sarah) so that means that Laura isn't human.

A possibly desecndent of the Greek goddess of choas and discord, Eris, mayhaps? the madame hasn't shown any sign of Greek mythology yet, but I wouldn't be surprised.

The seer always knew that there was something weird about her, and yet he never warned Phrix, or he did and Phrix didn't listen to him....

*looks over the last few posts* I think Irish is on to something, Laura is some sort of puppet, willing or other wise. Maybe....

Well Moss dropped a little hint on the tagboard, referring to Discord. We're probably on the right track there.

To Fox: I don't think it's War per se, or any of the Horsemen. War, Conquest, Famine, Death. The Red Horse's war was a genocidal one, possibly done in the name of religion (his 'sword' could also be translated to refer to a sacrifical knife). Laura seems just to want to piss everyone off so they turn on each other.

Which does fit into Eris' (the Greek goddess of chaos) M.O. in referring to her doing the whole golden apple thing.

Heh. All this fighting might result in a few cuts. Blood being spilled on the Island breaks its protective spells. If she is just a puppet, then her employer/master's plan might be to anchor the island. Mayhaps for an invasion or to exact some revenge?

But the gods themselves were not puppets, but of the fates. And everyone is subject to the fates. So where was I... Oh yes I do not believe she is war, I was trying to make a joke.

Maybe she is one of witches from Macbeth ^^

Honestly, it seems that Laura wants to piss people off for the fun of it. If it weren't for the aura thing, I'd say that she's just a bitchy witch (no pun intended). However, the seer seemed pretty concerned...Do witches have aura's in general? I mean, does Truth have an aura? (Not like I expect the Madame to answer that...)

The island thing that Voiceless-san mentioned seems plausable...Hey, could Laura be a creation (or minion) of JOHN STONE!?!?!?

Anywho, I believe a descendant of aries would work, but definetly some kind of tool of chaos, and Dor is fae and he had an aura. So, we have ruled out that she is just fae, she may not have a soul, since the belief of some is that fae DO have souls... too many options we need to figure out a way to narrow them down, or stop over thinking it

Dor has an aura (full Fae, not glowy, but his abilities are gone due to his horns and fangs being gone), Sarah has an aura (half Fae, but glowy because of magical ability), as does Dee (human, not glowy). Phrix lit up like a friggin Christmas tree, if you remember. =P Cat's aura (per se) is the residue of the magic cast on him to be one of the Undead (boogidy boogidy). Without that magic, he wouldn't have an aura (least that's how I see it) He'd also be dead, but that's beside the point.

Laura's complete lack of an aura is something very different. No aura seems to mean no life. She could be dead in a way similar to Cat, she could be a golem or other non-living machination, or she could be something way out in left field (a proper demon even?) whose magical abilities have nothing to do with the Vortex and are therefore not affected by Libby.

you're "no aura if you're dead" thoery (you didn't put it quite like that, I know, I'm messin' with it) is interesting. What if Laura is some sort of *tries to think of a good word* zombie, mayhaps? Not like Cat of course...Or (like you said) a golem, created by someone to (intially) wreck Phrix's kingdom, and then she just so happened to stumble upon the island?

Well... she has had some gargoyle-like espressions, like the one she had when listening to Dor and Sarah. That one was creepy. Maybe she's a different species of Fae? Like Threnody? We don't know if they have auras.

I really don't think she's a Fae. Phrix may have been an idiot, but you don't you think he would've recogized one of the fae? Also, the seer. If anyone, he should know, and I think he would've warned the others if she was Fae.

No, I think she's human...at least on the outside. The seer implied that Laura had somthing to do with his blindness, and I got the impression that she is getting out side help. *Sigh* I wish we knew if Rose in her currant state had an aura, then I might be able to form a better theory...

The witches aren't affected by the Vortex? Musta missed the memo, because I'm pretty sure Truth was worried about Lib. 'Course I haven't the time for a 'chive dive to check for sure. *shrugs*
