"Fair is foul, foul is fair"
Anywho, Maybe she is dead. Maybe she is a demon. Maybe she something like a golem. Maybe she is a puppet. Maybe she has the magic to prevent her from showing her aura. Maybe she is a drug addict and her aura is on a bad trip. Maybe she has no soul. Maybe she sold her soul.

well, we know that magic users don't necessarily show a special aura, remember that Dee (although not as much as later) does know some magic. I believe the reason for the glowyness around sarah and cat is directly related to their importance to current events. it appears that everything centers around those two...
Libby also specifically said laura wasn't one of the seven, so she doesn't belong there...

"Some people play tennis, I erode the human soul."
I keep thinking of what Libby said: "She doesn't belong, she's not in this story!" "There's ONLY seven!".
Now, this can mean a couple of things, but assuming "The Seven" refers to the group as a whole, The Destined, Libby might mean that she's some kind of juxtaposition, an insert. That sort of explains the infighting.
I think her magic is a strong contrast to Libby's; note the ball, which kind of expands out of nowhere. Whatever power she has over Dor is a thing that seems to radiates out. And note that they're sharing a room; Moss loves foreshadowing and symbolism. Well, if you have a vortex, a thing that sucks, then you must have a thing that blows (GHEE). Laura? Maybe.
On a side note, in the page with the auras, did anyone notice that Cat's are the only eyes you can see clearly, and Dor's dots are lighted but Sarah's are not? Maybe something about the fact that they are royalty.

I don't think she's working alone. The seer said that something didn't want him to see her (I believe).
The thing about not being part of the seven...*counts on fingers* If it's the main characters that Libby was talking (counting Libby herself) there are six. Dor, Cat, Sarah, Dee, Truth, Libby. Could the seventh be Tom? But that's for another discussion...
Expanding on what Rychon-san wrote (sorta): If she is the oppisite of Libby...Libby is cleaning it up, and Laura is...messing it up? That might work...something that wants magic to remain to cause destruction. That would explain why she has the form of a witch: witches aren't affected by Libby. (I'm assuming here that she is some sort of creation.)
Now I'm confused. I need breakfast. I just woke up, peoples!!! >< (Not your fault of course..)

She won't until she either 1) Makes a contest of it and someone gets it right 2) She tells us in the comic 3) Makes it painfully obvious through the comic, though not saying.

i was under the impression that Dor's dots glowed because they were natural, while Sarah's were tatooed on by her mother. no 'chive dive cause i have no idea where that is in the comic.
going back to the 'tool of chaos' thing, I imagined that if something where a tool of chaos, they wouldnt be able to contain all the... chaos-y stuff, and so it would leech out in the form of a really weird aura. but thats just my thoughts.
and while it would be cool if she were an automaton, I dont think it would be possible for her to do magic if she was... ah well.
As to some sort of positive contribution to the thread, a possible hypothesis:
Laura is kind of like Libby. Not quite like the Vortex, but she is drawn to power, or possibly the lack of (Dor - perhaps she could see how he used to have power?) such, and uses her own brand of magic to influence them. Dor and Sarah are both easy to set off (as we've seen), so why pick Dor to make with the annoyance? Perhaps it's because he no longer has magic, but Sarah has. Ergo, is Laura's magic weak and unable to control Faes who still have magic (but can control elves... I dont know) because their own magic would expel hers from their body/mind? We've seen that Dor's body is capable of taking in magic, even though it hurts, possibly because it's hungering for something to take the place of what left it?
*cough*
anyway, after that long and unweildy blob of text, I'm going to scoot off to another thread now

*gasp* Maybe Laura is some kind of demon or djinn form the bowels of hell and looks absolutely hidious and thus must take away the seer's sight, and she has no aura because demons/djinn have no auras which will allow her to hide from the seer's awesome Sight. Her powers are the horrid demonic that cause chaos and damnation. Also maybe she became stuck in the little girl body and is now unable to escape it without Truth's help.
On another note I should not try to figure things out while studying for tests.

The fae themselves are fallen angels of sorts...It wouldn't be farfetched if Laura was some sort of demon...Perhaps she is an agent from Hell sent to turn the Fae against one another, thus rendering them "evil" and making the Fae race suitable for the likes of "Satan"? (Quatations marks because I don't believe in any of that stuff in real life.
)
That would explain a few things...what bothers me is she doesn't seem to notice that anything is strange with Libby. Very odd.

quick question, what do you believe?
a lot of people believe that some things are strictly 'evil' and otehr things are strictly 'good', with no possible in-betweens... so it's refreshing (and cool) to find someone who doesnt believe in 'evil', as you say.

Even in Hitler's case, he may not have been as sick and twisted as most would say. I mean, obviously he was, but.... Well, try a different angle. Hitlers actual goal was to establish the third (or was it fouth?) Reich--that is, a 1,000 year period of peace in the world. Sadly, the way he wanted to do that was to kill off most of the Earth, a forced Noah's Arc. Once he finished with the Jews, Gypsies, Blacks, and others, he was going to move on to other white races, after all. There are some people who share his mentality now that we don't view the same way. What about that joke about taking warning labels off of medicines so that the "stupid" people die off. That's pretty nasty, and the same twisted thought pattern: If we kill certain people the world will be a better place.
I think it's called real politik, the ends justify the means.
Back on topic.
Not wanting to hint either way, I see.
Well, we have no idea where Phrix picked Laura up from, only that she had no where to go. So no family, at least not anymore. I do wonder where the Elves travelled in from.
However, I think the reason Dor is being attacked has more to do with this page than anything else. Though it brings to question why one of them is to be an apprentice and why that makes them a target, particularly for Laura.
On a side note, Laura looks very doll like to me. That, and there's not telling whether a doll-like person would be able to use magic or not; after all, Truth says that hers works by drawing out magic from the surroundings. Laura's doesn't seem to work that way though.

And I just wanted to see if you'd say that.I just thought the way you said it was funny ^^

*lost in thought*
I used to have the feeling Laura was like a cuckoo bent on taking over reality but then I remembered that was a different story. (A Game of You - The Sandman) Then I was thinking for every action there is an equal and opposite re-action like a black hole and a white hole but I thought Katrina would fit in better there.
Then I found this thread. I liked the idea of Eris but then I thought maybe that idea was also unlikely. Eris tends to work though things rather than make things happen using her powers. I was playing around with the idea that maybe Laura was a tool ala the golden apple or even one of her daughters most likey infatuation, the rash foolishness of blind impulse, usually caused by guilt and leading to retribution. (She was the goddess of discord and mischief, she tempted man to do evil, and then lead them to ruin.) It was then I remembered no real gods had appeared. Apollo was the fellow responsible for the Delphi Oracle yet there has been no mention of him. I know it said the Fae were fallen angels but you hopefully know what I mean.
It was then that I remembered Mindy. She carried baby Libby to the island. She used to play a lot (sometimes unwillingly) with Libby as Libby was fascinated by her. I also remembered that she does not really seem to be affected by Libby’s Vortex or her close contact as the other fae are. That in conjunction with Libby telling Bing to serve her and go under her protection, if you will, by giving up his species with suddenly remembering Mindy had given herself up to a higher power, lead me to this thought. A power since which Mindy might have been serving? Which maybe can offer some protection against Libby’s Vortex? A power which seems to run on bargains ala Woden/Odin. A power to which maybe a young witch named Laura might also have made a bargain with?
What do you all think?
