Getting my shit together...

If you were exiled to the armpit of America, wouldn't you want to be somewhere else as well?

Getting my shit together...

Post by Anywherebuthere »

Hey guys, I'm trying.

And ya know what, that's crap. It really is, but it's the truth.

Last Friday, I got a call that my neice went into the hospital. Jessica and I spent most of the day trying to get a hold of my sister (well, we both wound up working overnights, so between passing out, and trying to get a hold of my sister so we could get everything cleared for a trip up to the hospital 40 miles north of Fargo...that was Friday).

Saturday was booked with work and a "parents" day where Jess' family and my Family got together. Which I would NOT trade for the world, honestly, it was probibly the most fun I've had with my family seeing them interact with hers.

Sunday we wound up spending the day with MY parents over lunch. Which ment that Sunday I didn't get squat done either.

And the truth of the matter is, I HATE missing updates, and for the past 2 weeks, I've been missing updates.

And I HATE that. I hate it more then you can imagine. I HATE it with a passion. I believe in putting out a strip that you can depend on. I EXPECT of myself to take this seriously. And recently, I feel like I've been slacking off. I haven't intended to, but you know what they say about the road to hell and intentions.

So, I'm going to try and make certain that you guys get your fix. It's going to take a bit of work, but since my grandmother's death, I feel like I've been shirking my duities. Yep I HAVE had a bit o' crap going on in my life, but that's no excuse. I need to do this story, I need to finish this story, and I probibly only have a year or two to do so before I have other things that will wind up chaning my life to the point where I can no longer continue doing this strip.

Cheers
-Jason

Um. When you come right down to it, you really don't owe the readers anything in particular at all. Life comes first. You're a long time dead, remember.

The important readers will realise this.

longer than it was, and tomorrow was always another game away?

It's about professionalism. I take what I do rather seriously, and while I do not OWE my readers anything, I DID make a commitment to the series.

Yes, I'm not getting paid, but that's no reason for me to slack off on what I consider my duities while I do this strip.

It's just a part of my personality. I may not be getting paid for this, but I DO consider it a responsibility and a commitment, and I do NOT take those lightly.

By all means, respect the work you're doing and the commitment you've made to it, definitely. It's not about slacking off. Sometimes things just drop in your way that are so large that they can't be ignored. There's no need to apologise for those.

Heh. I'm saying this to a bloke who regularly seems to produce daily five page monsters! :)

I'll say this: the man does not waste time. One day he wakes up and it's WIFE, NOW! FAMILY, NOW! GO! GO! GO!

Of course, this is from the perspective of a guy who's been single for two years, so I suppose any relationship seems fast at this point. Especially now that more than half my friends are married and half of those with kids (twenty-two is too young to feel this old!)

Anyway, know that your dedication to the strip is much appreciated.

I really admire your attitude... Though I do think you may be a little hard on yourself. But knowing that you take this seriously is kind of a good feeling for me, you know, as a reader. Thanks, and good luck with everything. :D
