Since Sunday I think I've only had half a glass of soda and I think I've noticed a difference. I've been drinking just juice, water, and tea, and I feel better even though I still have a bit of a cold.

Awww...sorry to read that you're not feeling well.

I'm of the opinion that colds have to be "ridden out" so get whatever rest you can and keep up the fluids.

As to Doctors, I'm fortunate enough to have decent medical insurance at work but I get sick so rarely that I seldom see them. I've no fear of or problem with Doctors, though.

I do have an Optometrist appointment scheduled and I plan to get an appointment for a checkup sometime this year. I need new glasses as mine are pretty scratched up, I'm also curious to give contacts a try for the first time. As to a physical, it's been a while since I've had one so it probably couldn't hurt me to get checked over.

Well, I started to get a bit ill this morn after running and taking my protein shake. My gut tore that stuff up in seconds. Should I switch to eating something more solid after running so that my stomache has fun trying to take it apart?
Just curious on any thoughts if anyone else here excercises.

My advice about food and exercise is just this: go with what works for you. I personally need food for fuel, so I eat plenty before exercising. My best friend in high school was the exact opposite; she'd get sick if she ate before karate class, while I'd feel weak and useless if I didn't. So if you're feeling up to solid food after running, go for it. Chances are a nice sandwich is heathier for you anyway.

That's true, I normally eat a two-egg sandwich but I was running out the door this morning. I will make sure to leave room for that time frame to cook.( heck it only takes two minutes in the microwave anyways. )

Thanks :shucks:

I agree with Nziz, do whatever your body feels most comfortable with.

I tend to function well on 2-3 normal meals a day with some fruit in the afternoon (usually an apple while at work).

When I run or seriously work out (A couple hours at the gym, for instance), I just make sure to drink a bit more water before I start and I'm fine. I've tried eating before or just after a workout and I get queasy, so evidently I don't need to do that. If I eat an hour or so after a workout, I'm fine and usually hungry then, too.

Apples are really good for your digestive tract I hear. Rumor is that it has to work extra hard to tear it up so it helps burn some calories. That is good food there, tasting good and burning fat... What will apples think of next?!

Yup, I enjoy a nice macintosh every afternoon at work.

Plus, apples are really easy to bake with. I made Fred a batch of apple bars for her birthday last year.

I had to revive this thread because of what I just ate.

Frank and I bought some chips and salsa for D&D last week, but never got to eat them because I forgot they were in my car. I had been working my way through them at my house, and the first bag of chips was nearly empty. There were a lot of little bits left. I took the 4-cheese and mixed it with pico de gallo in a bowl, then realized that none of the chips were big enough to dip. They were like the size of frosted flakes. So I dumped them in on top of the salsa and mixed it all up together in a bowl, and ate it. With a spoon. As normal people eat cold cereal. XD

I have done this before on more than one occasion.

I don't know if this says something about you or something about me.

My favorite odd mix of foods is a childhood breakfast favorite: Pizza Eggs. My dad used to chop up our leftover pizza and mix it with scrambled eggs, which turned out astoundingly delicious. You just have to pick out the olives, because those are gross with eggs. But everything else is great.

Heehee!

I love cool girls and their strange dietary ways. :shucks:

Although that pizza and scrambled egg thingy sounds tasty. I don't like olives on my pizza so I may try this the next time I have some leftover pizza.

The chips and salsa in a bowl sounds good too.

I don't recall any unusual things I've eaten lately...I've had fairly normal meals: Kinda dull and ordinary so I must change my ways to fit in better here.

I was in a cooking mood last night so I made fettucine alfredo, cooked some tuna, steamed some cauliflower and baked biscuits.

Yes, the tuna was good for me but the loads of alfredo sauce and butter on the biscuits wasn't. :shucks:

I must say it was pretty damn good though.

*Pauses to add Poptarts and Cheese Whiz to his grocery list*

I just had a plain ol' tuna sub with veggies for lunch at Subway today.

Jared says I must eat fresh and I don't want to be naughty and disobey him.

Yeah, I'll probably find something ridiculous to eat for dinner tonight.

well lately I've been having weird cravings, probably brought on by the fact that I have no real food in the fridge. Today I had mini muffins covered in American cheese and melted wrapped in a corn tortilla shell
