Awww that sucks. I feel bad for you guys coming from CA to hang out with her.... oh well. We'll just have to have extra fun to make up for it. ^^

Btw, I was talking to my manager at my new job and it looks like the most time off I can have right now (what with today being my first day and all) is half a day thursday and half a day monday... which means we won't be arriving there until like... 3am friday morning (so someone will have to wake up to a phone to let us in to sleep) and will have to leave early on sunday so I can drive back for work on monday. Just a heads up.

No, I'm still gonna work at Best Buy on the weekends so I can keep my discount. ^_~

I got hired at a reprographics place. They deal with a lot of blueprints and business meeting books and technical printing stuff. Only real downside so far is that in a building of about 6 people, there's already another Cristy so I have to go by Kristina. No one calls me that except maybe my parents. Boo.

Man, We are getting smaller. It is too bad about Fred, she sounds like a nice person. What in the world has she been up to? Has she been doing her new comic? I am not sure and just curious if she had a site to check it out on. So the room are gonna cost more : /. Oh well ^^!

Yeah, having done a small amount of convention organizing and planning over the years, I know all too well how things can change as the deadline approaches.

No matter how well you plan, something will always happen to someone.

Yeah, it's too bad about Fred, she was looking forward to coming but considering her ongoing money problems due to lack of work I doubted she'd be able to make it this year. There'll always be another convention and bills have to be paid too. She's been a friend for years and I'll miss her this month.

Fred's got the start of a new site going on Angelfire. Last time I checked it, she had a couple strips done for a new comic called "Pinefresh Afterlife". Her long-planned Elf story is also in the works but nothing for that was posted. I don't have the link handy but I can look it up and post it here.

*Kristy: Fred wanted to sleep in my room but since she won't be there, that leaves me with a room to myself. I can manage the bill okay by myself but you and your friend are still welcome to the other bed, if you wish. If not, that's fine, too. I enjoy having company and having help with bills is also nice.

I'm rarely asleep before 3am anyway, so an early arrival wouldn't bother me any.

Congrats on the new job, too. I hope it goes well.

And to whoever DOES come to the show, I look forward to seeing everyone. This will be my 11th straight trip there and while I get bored now and then, I've yet to get tired of going to Pittcon.

Yay! Pittcon this week! WOOHOO!

Aaaaaaaanyway...due to my own limited fundage, I think I can only swing Sunday for the con itself. However! I can head down Friday night and hang out with all of ya after the con is over, if that be okay.

I can't wait to see Kristy again, tho no Fred = sadness.

But I wants to meet more peeples cuz I'm crazy-ass social like that. Sometimes. ^.^

More good news!

Cathe can't go. She was just made full time at her job and they decided that now she can't have the weekend off (even though she asked in advance!) because another full time person already has that weekend off.

And without Fred going that means I'd have to drive by myself. 12 hours. Directly from work.

Thanks, but no thanks. Asshats.

So now I'm looking at plane tickets. They cost almost double what gas would. Not to mention, I thought I'd only be paying 1/3 of the gas cost.

I am just so full of rage right now it's not even funny.

It's going to cost me more to go to this con than I could ever hope to earn there.

If it weren't for the fact that so many people are coming from halfway across the country to hang out for the weekend, I'd give Pittcon a big F.U.

You guys had better fucking love me if I spend $400 I don't have to sit at a table for three days.

I was 5 seconds from not being able to go.lol.
My new car while affordable came at a bad time. So If I wasn't able to return it, then I would have had to cut the con. Fortunately I got rid of a super nice car to hang out with you Kristy. We are all making big sacrifices. That sucks about Cathe but as Nziz says, being "Sick" is legitamate.

Well, hell! If it were me, I would've just called in sick, too.

I don't know what kind of job Cathe has but I requested the time off for the weekend way back in February and once vacation time is locked in, it's mine! We're flexible at the library but we honor time off requests.

I'm also sorry about not getting to meet Cathe. She seems like a nice and cool girl.

As I said earlier, I've done complicated convention planning before and stuff like this always happens at the last minute. The last convention I worked on was changing on a daily basis before the actual day arrived.

Of course, stuff can happen, so no one is to blame.

*Kristy: It'll be great seeing you again but there'll always be other conventions. I wouldn't want to pay for gas for 12 hours of driving by myself, either. Spending money you don't have is never fun...I've done that a time or two myself. We're a good group here, I'm sure we'll understand if you decide not to come. Given Fred's circumstances, I'd have been surprised if she did come.

I'm now left with a hotel room to myself for the weekend. Not a bad thing and I can manage the extra cost on the VISA by myself, I just wasn't fully expecting it is all. I'm still going because there are a few things I need to do during the show and a couple people I'm meeting. Plus, I just want a break from craziness at work for a few days.

*Doodler: I'm hitting the road with Redtail and her hubby right after the con on sunday...since I'm the ride. We've only got 6-7 hours of driving but it can still mount up. We've got rooms at the Radisson, which is on site for the convention. You're certainly welcome to hang out with whoever does finally make the show for the weekend.

Yeah, I'm bummed about Fred not coming and I'm sorry to read about everyone else's last minute travel snags but it's human nature for shit to happen.

There'll always be another convention and whatever else happens is fine by me. I'll certainly understand.

To whoever does make it...travel safe and have a fun weekend.

Yeah, there seems to be an overabundance of stuff happening as the convention gets closer.

I'm still healthy and my car is running fine, so I'll be there.

I've been to this show 10 straight times, so there isn't a whole lot there to surprise me anymore. I've got plans to meet up with a couple pals of mine on Friday and Saturday but if there's no objection to reference librarians hanging around the booth, I'll swing by to visit when I can.

It's a bummer about certain people not being able to come but we can still make the best of it and have a fun weekend.

Kelcey is still going, I think... she hasn't called me back (she's always been bad about that) since the day she IM'ed me and asked if there was room for her in the hotel. I have no idea how she's getting to the con, though I assume she might be flying since she's coming from Louisiana and that'd be an AWFULLY long drive.

I'm sorry I can't go. I did really want to meet everyone (especially the FFXI crew ^_^)

I can't suddenly come down with something because no one calls in sick at a vet. It just isn't done for some reason. Every vet job I've had (and that would be 3) no one's EVER called in sick. Just this morning I went to work puking (on my birthday, no less. Happy birthday to me

). I guess it's because we're always short staffed. And I LOVE my job, so I wouldn't do anything to jepordize it. So I guess I'll just have to meet everyone some other time. It's poopy, but I'm sure there will be another time.
