Piddle?

Post by Dennis Kininger »

Heehee!

I just read comic #82 and it made me smile...thanks, Kristy! :shucks:

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the ladies rooms at Otakon (or "room") have urinals. That's like, weird, man. Yeah, I think unisex bathrooms are odd, too.

Anyhoo, I was last at Otakon in 2002 and last year's Baltimore Con, I know that there are potties all over that huge convention center and some clown still actually wet himself? No, that doesn't surprise me.

Yes, I'm momentarily ashamed of my gender. :-?

Okay, let's say that EVERY mens room in that convention center was ocupado and had a line out the door and I had to go...like, desperately?

So, how would I handle it? Well, first, there would be the gross solution...yes, use your imagination, chances are pretty good that a guy would take his chances if the coast were clear (garbage can, big plant in the corner, etc...). Two, I'm "old" and pretty skilled at holding it after all these years...I would make a dash outside and seek out a restaurant with a mens room or, Three, as a last ditch measure, I'd barge into the foreign territory of the ladies room and revive the unisex concept. Hey, I seriously doubt I'd see anything I haven't seen before (Heh!) :shucks:

Alrighty, enough talk about peeing (LOL!)...thanks for the fun new comic, Kristy, and I'm sure you looked nice in your Gryffindor outfit. I just finished book three over the weekend and I enjoyed it. Yes, I'm going to read all the books.

I will work on going to Otakon again next year as I've missed it and want to enjoy all that craziness again.

I saw STARDUST a couple weekends ago and liked it. It's not one of my favorite Gaiman stories but it made for a charming movie.

Bravo, Redtail!

As you know, I work in a library with a majority of women of various ages from teens to a sweet lady who's probably close to 60 or so. Yes, my boss and the two maintenance guys and me are the only guys here.

Anyway, we periodically get critters at work: A mouse every so often, several spiders and earwigs. Each time, one of the girls lets out a scream from seeing a spider at the circulation desk , I just roll my eyes and bite back a snarky comment. Thankfully, I work with a cool lady who thinks nothing of flattening critters when she gets the chance.

Now, if there was a roach in the bathroom...just think what's behind the scenes of all that "appetizing", overpriced convention food Otakon sold in 2002, the last time I was there, and I assume sold again this year. :-?

I've truly missed Otakon and will work on being able to go next year.

I would love to go to San Diego but between plane tickets to fly there, the hotel room, the admission to the show and cash for actually buying food and stuff at the show, I doubt I'll be able to afford it anytime soon.

Stranger things could happen, though, so we'll see. If not next year, perhaps the year after.

I just find it funny that at least some boys are incapable of doing things learned at the age of 2. C'mon, guys!

I was just talking about that with Cathe yesterday. The friends I had over had gone and were talking about all the shit they saw there. I would love to go to San Diego, but I fear that will be one of the cons at which I don't have a table. Too much stuff to do. Maybe next year, wallet permitting. Think we could get all you California peeps together for the weekend? ^_^

Yea right! Like you even have to ask us to hang with anyone one of you. Seriously? I would quit my job in a heartbeat if I even smelled the stink of discontent at my request to hang out with you guys! That is why I think you all would love to live in California.
On another note: I heart the word piddle....lol.

Everyone buy Bioshock and piddle yer swashbucklers. It is out tomorrow. Funny coincidence that I got in trouble at work and will have tomorrow off.
You may ask, " Franklin, you are so super smart and super cool that why would you EVER get in trouble?" The answer, my friends, lies in Petroleum based momentum fluid. So our company crew trucks come standard with diesel engines and a 100 gallon deisel dump tank in back for fueling up tractors and such. Well, one day after a hard day of work I was filling my truck up because both the dump tank and the truck were empty. On my way back to the yard from filling the truck up with 140 gallons of fuel I notice the truck is acting funny. Two blocks away from the yard it dies on me and has to be towed to the dealership. Well several days pass and they can't find out why on this green earth it won't start. Well, we go to pick it up today and on a whim the mechanic says. " Let me check something real quick." A few pumps here and gadgets there and boom, the truck spurts a bit of gas on his hand. " Your truck has gas." he says. "No shit?! I thought it was water!" I said very callously just playing with the man as we warmed up to each other quick as most white collar folks do. " No you don't understand it has gas..." I try to process this in my brain and I draw a blank. " You lost my man." I say to the mechanic. "This is a diesel truck. It has gas." And in a horrific flash of realization. I know I am up the creek without a paddle. " Oh....um...unleaded?" "Yeah." is all he replied. My foreman thought it was funny as heck but my Superintendant did not. Tomorrow morning I have to go explain why I wanted 140 gallons of unleaded gas and sign a paper saying "You are a R-Tard and we punish stupidity."

I will, of course, demand to see the bill from the gas card as it lists all the details of what type I got.

I am so in trouble tomorrow morning...

Yay! More FIREFLY episodes! :shucks:

Oh well, this big fanboy can still daydream.

I've been wanting to go to San Diego for YEARS and I've never been able to swing it...I'm still trying, though.

*Frank? After reading all that, I realize that I really do miss you.

you know you're more than welcome to tag along, dennis.
i've saved up about $100 cash monies and a bunch of change so far for the trip. and since my friend joe makes plenty of $$ i expect him to have the funds by next year, no problem.
my plan is to visit joy & the gang first (my friend maryka's best friend lives in LA, so she'll want to visit her) and maybe do a bit of touristy things (like hollywood, finally!). then we can rent a van or something and drive to san diego the day of the con & stay at a cheap hotel or a campground somewhere nearby. of course, these are just my preliminary intentions, things could change in the next 11 months.
i figure major plans can be laid out around pitt-con time.
and, of course, otakon is 2 weeks after san diego next year!

only 8 months until pitt-con!

Aww...thanks, Redtail! :shucks:

San Diego AND Otakon in one year? ~Head explodes at the thought...though it'd sure be nice~

I'll be seriously working on getting a better cashflow going by next year, so we'll see how things go. I DO want to go to Otakon next year. San Diego might be doable in 2009. Stranger things have happened...I'd love to see California as I've never been there. I'll be happy to sleep anywhere I can stretch out my sleeping bag and pillow: Campground, cheap hotel, etc... Hopefully things will work out.

As to Pittcon, I plan on going again but, with the co-organizer currently up on murder charges, I'm wondering if there'll be a show next year. Those kinds of legal bills can be costly as are running conventions...no, I haven't whacked anyone, yet, but I've helped organize a small convention or two in the past.

I'll be thinking positively, though.

This is 100% true and if Mr. George is defending himself from murder charges, as he probably will be by April 2008, that could affect the outcome of the convention next year.

Hopefully, it'll still happen and the truth will be found.

Yeah, I had pretty much the same reaction, Joy.

I've been to this show eleven times in a row and actually spoken to Mr. George maybe 2-3 times over the years. He's never struck me as a particularly warm guy...just a really busy one (I've helped organize cons, so I can identify) and I usually deal with his wife, Renee, who's a super nice lady.

I never knew he had been married before or that she'd been killed like that.

Anyway, I don't know if he did it or not, that's for a court and jury to decide.

How this affects the con next year, remains to be seen.

Whew...subject change. That has made me all sorts of confused.
Thanks Dennis! I enjoyed conversing with you always^^ too! Are we all going to dress up as something next year? I hope so. I don't know what to be though. When we went to the Anime Expo I was going(went sorta) to go as Jake from YU+ME with the green hair and everything. It was a travesty I had green hair spray in my nice hat and everything.I told Joy that I want to go as Skywise next year. But I am not a tailor so I may have to get some help from someone elsewhere. It would be cool if we all went as something. Bonus points if it is from the same comic ^^.

Just a thought.

Cons

Post by Darstorm »

I love going to anime cons and finding the good ones that are worth going to. I enjoyed most of the cons I have been to. My Fav is AWA, but I am sad that I am going to miss this year do to no money. :( I might try to go to Anime USA. I am think there is another con coming up for Northern VA, but I don't remeber. Katsucon is pretty far off. Anyone have a fav con?

**Hi Darstorm! I just wanted to say hi to a new poster...thanks for joining. Yeah, I can totally identify with a lack of money for convention travels. I had a blast at Otakon in 2002 and I've been trying to go a second time ever since (hopefully NEXT summer, if all goes well). I'd love to see more cons, it's all a matter of cash and the means to go. I've been to the Pittsburgh Comicon eleven straight times, so I guess that qualifies as a favorite con until I manage to attend one I like better.

**Redtail: Dressing up as Elfquest characters for Pittcon? I dunno if the world is ready to see me in pointy ears and an open vest. I might get confused as a demented wookie or something (For those who don't know me, I'm on the somewhat furry side...except for on top :shucks: )

**Frank: Sure, I'm game to wear a costume for Pittcon next year...hopefully, there'll be a show...If I'd known the girls were gonna wear their horns, I'd have brought mine along. We'll see how things go as the date gets closer.

I just want to say that I might not be going to Pittcon next year. I did so well at Otakon that I think I might just write off comic cons and just do some more anime cons instead. Pittcon, even though I had loads of fun hanging out with everyone, ended up being a bust financially. Soooo I dunno. /shrug
