Oh, you mean he stole some of the stuff Tolkien stole from Norse myth? Shame on him!
But what am I trying to do? Convincing a Tolkien fan is even harder than convincing a Jordan fan!
-- Added --
One of the things I noticed while reading his books was how many similarities there were with Dune. But I don't care. Half those similarities are caused by the fact that there are only a few basic stories out there, all with unwritten subconscious rules most of us aren't even aware of, and WOT, LOTR and Dune are all based on the same basic hero story, each with its own small alterations.
The other similarities (like Aes Sedai - Bene Gesserit or Aiel - Fremen) seem disturbing at first until you see how Jordan fleshes his versions out which then prove to be nothing at all like copies of the originals (and some of them even more realistically developed than Herbert's I think).
------------------
