Student Union Champions
Heyyo! My name's Julesville and this is my comic Student Union Champions
http://studentunionchampions.comicgenesis.com
It's a comic roughly based on my former job in the AV department at the student union of the University of Texas at Austin. The responsibilities and the mishaps and the what not, good times. I've also thrown in the odd occurrence of time travel and cyborgs and government spies and whatever because... well, I like those things. It's the story of Halcyon, better known as Hal, a disaffected college dropout, whose only bright spot in his life is his (supposedly) crappy job at Folk University's student union, or so he thinks... You hooked yet? The art is all done on the computermajig with a mouse. I kept it simple because backgrounds are hard... at least for me. I plan to introduce more characters soon, in fact, I'm getting kind of tired of that ugly dye-job (you'll see what I mean). Hope you enjoy it. Updates Mondays and Fridays.

Re: Student Union Champions
You draw these images all with the mouse? May I ask what program you're using and whether it's at all tedious? I'm afraid of drawing with a pencil, much more a mouse.
I remember working in IT at a university for about a year and a half and aside from the waking up late and getting paid per job, I lived through those scenarios. So the comic is personally endearing.
Uh...I mean...I didn't look at the NSFW videos. Who'd do such a thing?
"It's broken" for me was, "Bob/Jake's the only one who knows how to fix this one."
And you replaced my relaxed, amiable, overweight Bob with a relaxed, amiable, slimmed hippy I see
.
I noticed a typo on number 7, I think. carrer? Career?
It's funny. I love these characters, and I love the job they have to go through. Okay, it's a winner. Yes, I'm only on the tenth comic and I've decided I love these characters.
I see they've grown enough to break the fourth wall ^^. The simple drawing style is masked by excellent dialog and facial expressions. It feels like a gag-a-day hybrid, because I can see developing characters even if there's no focus on a storyline. I can see where stories can easily appear (I guess a lot of gag-a-days may already do that, but I still see it here.)
I like the comic and look forward to it continuing. What method do you use to draw the characters anyway?

GooseBump City - A comic about life... the life of toys anyway. (We still aren't doing anything new)
Shapes, the Unanimated Series - It's seriously just a square, a triangle, and a circle (It's arrived, but not ready to be shown)
Halloween Cameo Caper 2009 . . . Sign up.
Currently reading: Atavism - Cope wins 'cause he replied first (I can't believe it concluded!)
Brothers (and Sisters) in Joining:
Hydriatus | evelynp | Xaybiance The Weird | poporetto | ]Blaze Series | Derek Dragomir | piggylove1940 | Synaptic-misfires
(I'm only allowed five URL's, so I'll just rotate)

I used Abode Flash to make the drawings and than publish it as a jpeg. I know there are better programs out there for still art, but this is what I have and it works fine. Yes, it can be very tedious, like it you want to draw a curved line in real life, you just draw it, but on flash you have to draw a straight line and than manual move it to make it curve, or try your luck with the pencil tool which I don't recommend. It's little things like that where you have to manipulate so many little things that can boring quick, but it can be helpful too. For one, you don't have to draw the same things over again, you can save em as objects and paste them elsewhere, really helpful for backgrounds and static things like hair and clothing. I have a file in addition to each comic file where I can just doodle, play with face and bodies for potential future characters, and just messing around is the best part. The pictures are never as fine or polished as I want them to be, but it works, and also maybe Flash's fault for begin a primarily animation software.
And for me it was either "It's Broken." or "I have to call Mike on this one."
Thanks again.

Your comic made me smile. I have a few friends that do IT at my university, and this reminds me of them for whatever reason.
Can't wait for the next update.

Just a funny aside (haven't had a chance to read it yet), I thought it was called "Soviet Union Champions" when I first saw the title.

The latest comic gave a major Ethan from ctrl+alt+del vibe. Not sure if that's a good thing, considering what some think of that comic. I don't mind it, but others do.

It was more a hope you weren't going to get flamed for that.Julesville wrote:Ummm... thank you?Lordthenightknight wrote:The latest comic gave a major Ethan from ctrl+alt+del vibe. Not sure if that's a good thing, considering what some think of that comic. I don't mind it, but others do.
