It's been a few months since I last posted here, so I figured I'd make another plug post for my webcomic "A Werewolf Story". It's a horror comic about 3 friends and what happens to them once they are exposed to the supernatural. Initially, I was going to do this in grayscale, but made the switch to color after page 15.
I like the style, but I've had difficulty reading the archives. Not that they're hard-to-read, rather they're hard-to-load. For some reason your page has an unusually high load time (and as I know from a different thread, I have one of the fastest connections on these forums). I think the complexity of your site is working against you.
On that note, the 3 title-pages are overkill. Pick one, put the others in "extra" or "gallery" art somewhere on the page. All of it is meant to make navigation easy and painless and to allow people to get sucked into and then lost inside your story, not to just showcase your art. Right now the speedbumps prevent me from sitting back and enjoying a good werewolf story.
adobedragon: Thanks for taking a look and bookmarking!
That guy: In regards to the site design, I'm not very good at the website design thing, so I just copied my friend's template and substituted my images for his. I'm also looking into simplifying the site, but I haven't found a layout that I'm happy with yet.
I know the site isn't really 56k friendly, but the archive thing is kind of stumping me. The only differences between the archive pages and the current page are the main comic image, comment text, and 2 links attached to the nav buttons. So if one page takes a while to load completely, the rest of the pages should come up relatively quicker (or at least that's how I was hoping it would work). I also tried emptying the cache on my laptop and my desktop and pulling up the archives with Fire Fox, Safari, and IE, but they all came up pretty quick. Still, load times are a valid point and hopefully something that can be fixed with a site revamp.
In regards to the 3 title pages, I totally agree on the overkill aspect. When I first got the site up and running, the comic was initially going to be in gray scale only and had no gallery section. I figured that it would be nice to have a color picture of the main characters and werewolf before going to back to gray scale so folks would know what things were supposed to look like. But since the comic has switched to color and a gallery has been added, that's pretty much a moot point now and it does make sense to move two of the three images over.
Thanks again for the feedback guys. It's very much appreciated.
