Bad Ass Muthas!

In the words of the great Ben Fleuter, it's "a comic that's hard to define but thus far involves some semi-futuristic awesomeness and magic and demons and stuff." That's a way better summary than anything I've been able to come up with.

I was going to wait until I finished chapter two, but I've been hot for some feedback. So hit me, baby. Hit me hard.

Love
Dave Ryan

Nothing? Really? Full color every week? Violence? Curse words? Anyone?

Don't take it personally. ^_~ I've had two pitches for Lightbringer and never gotten a response.

Yeah, I've noticed that this particular forum category doesn't get so many responses. I saw one post that had liek 8 resposnes and was like "what the f is so special about them??!!!" But then I noticed that their first post was like 3 months ago. Sooooooo I WILL bump this thread...but only like once a month.

Y'Know, you have to give us a reason to check out your comic. You gave us a lacklustre summary that you said was better than anything you could come up with. That gives me the impression that your comic doesn't quite live up to the less-than-mediocre standards set by your summary.

If you want people to check out your comic, you'll have to do a better job of selling it.

If you want feedback, it might be better to post in the Technique Tips and Tricks forum. Actually it would definitely be better. Also, as TellTaleHeart said, I think you need a better pitch... not that I'm one to talk about that.

Ack! Just noticed you were pitching. Indeed, people don't check here too often <_<

But damn, you already know I dig the comic (Ben Fleuter? That's me! I got quoted! WOO!) Great and concistent art with a lot of style to it. Especialy got me with the use of perspective. The page with the sniper outside the Money Bin, for example. The perspective used on the guy is mind-blowing. So yeah, I have no complaints art-wise.

Storywise it seems to be shaping up. Looks like a cool world you've got set up. I felt bombarded by partial storylines and information at first and for a while worried that the story was just going to be confusing. But with the recent pages many of those are tieing together well, so I hope it continues down that path. Can't wait to see what happens to McFly. The little green bastard has become a favorite of mine.

I here what you're saying storywise, 834n. The fact that I only update once a week doesn't help that cause either. But like you said, stuff is tying together. I threw a lot of loose ends out there, but I plan to wrap em all up.

McFly will be back in a major way. He's a key player and I get the impression that he's already the fan favorite.

I appreciate the positive comments on the art. I really do. A lot of time goes into these doodles. That said, how about some criticism? Any problems following the dialouge? Ever get confused about which order the panels should be read in? Ever unable to follow the action? Ever notice inconsistencies in the characters - like the priest is taller here, or his eyes are too far apart in that panel? This is all stuff I need to work on, I'd love to hear some opinions from the outside.

Thanks for the comments!!!

Don't sweat the once-a-week updates, there is an audience for everything on the internet, and your comic looks promising. The art is above average, but too sketchy and rushed looking. Try tightening up those lines, and get a good book on color theory. You're doing some interesting things with your palette already, but sometimes your choices look random.

I haven't read through your archive, but the story in the latest few pages hasn't really awoken any curiosity. Try to keep each page easily accessable for new readers, whenever possible. However, your dialogue is dynamic and the panels are easy to follow, way to go.

Good luck fellah!

Reader since comic #3, love it, but I don't know what update schedule you're operating on :D

I shoot for Thursday updates but a lot of the time don't get it posted until 11ish. I think I consistently have new pages up by Friday afternoons (not counting a month long stoppage round March). So that's probably the best time to check.

Thanks for the feedback, Odd1. That's some good stuff to put my think on.
