"Doodles" is a funny word. Don't know why I just realized that.

Glad to see you finally got that part of the site up. I have to say that the last three images on the stuff you drew for various reasons are fantastic. The two "abstract" (or cubist? I dunno...) images of Charles and Mary are very interesting. Cubist Charles needs a background too, though. Mary's just looks a lot stronger with the background, and I think Charles' would too. What'd you do those two images with?

And yeah, the last one of Mary is neat too, since we've never seen any of the characters done in color with shadows. Was that a test run for comics in color?

Thanks.

Those were all done on illustrator. When work is slow, I mess around on the computer, trying to teach myself these programs. I know Photoshop intimately, but not Illustrator, so I worked on that a lot. The "(synthetic?) cubist" ones were made with the pen tool, where getting the shapes you want is really difficult, but since you can't really get all that close, you settle for these stylized versions of your shapes, and it ends up looking real cool. Charles and Mary were actually supposed to be on the same page, but when I rasterized Charles, I failed to notice the "Make Blank Space White" option that was checkmarked. Having screwed that up, I don't know how to make it transparent.

I have no plans on making 8:1 in color. I think the black and white suits it quite nicely. I was mostly interested in seeing what colors I would use for them. But you never know.

I agree that your comic is stronger in black and white. You get to do more cross-hatching with the pen and ink, which adds a nice grittyness to it. While I liked the coloring of Mary, it felt odd seeing her done so "cleanly," without the more expressive lines and marks you have in your comics.

Hmmm... What you might wanna try with the "synthetic-cubist-whatever" Charles (and this may not work at all, but what the heck): Try selecting Charles with your mouse so his whole body is highlighted, then copy and paste onto a new Illustrator file that's the same size as your original. Then you should be able to start fresh with the figure already done, and you can save it without the "Make Blank Space White" option checked.

That may not make any sense at all, or it may not work at all, but try it if you want.

The reason your advertisements aren't working is because you need to manually copy and paste the entire code to make the advert from a pre-existing page for non-standard pages. The ***advert*** tag only works on the index, templates, dated pages, etc.

Anything that goes into /workspace/webpages will get autokeened. No copy and paste necessary.

Um, er....

Haven't seen you around in a while.

Though there's likely more than one reason for that.

I certainly glad for more updates at 8:1, but are there no new Doodles or Links to be added?
