Genuine Draft.
In a world where things may or may not be what they seem. A place where one minute you are ruling 1000's there's a flash of light and you find yourself serving mediocre food in some diner and that's all you know. Until oneday, you are on a mission to find a jewel that will let you retain memories as the flashes of light appear. You battle angry customers, Dragons, Robots, Other Worlds, Restaurants, Trolls, Vader, Special Ops personell, all while trying to solve a mystery of what is real and what's been altered. A comic made with Lego bricks and other things. Genuine Draft contains 3 intersecting story lines, A group of servers and cooks in a greasy spoon called Burgatory. The 153rd Alternate Timeline Unit, special operatives trying to save the world one trip through a Stargate at a time. And finally, various humor, things that just come up randomly while staring at a group of Lego minifigs. Genuine Draft Updates 7 days a week after 3pm Colorado time, usually when I get home. Genuine Draft has more content! A Faq, links, improving About page and the RSS feed fixed! New and improved graphics. 110 strips and counting! Come one, come all and see the Troll who want's to be a pirate. A cook abuducted by his alien girlfriend. Fire making dragons! And Much more.
An interesting comic to say the least. I'm glad you gave me a good description of the plot in your post, because it was hard to figure it out just by reading the strip. I didn't quite understand the abrupt scene changes, but otherwise the comic is great. The layout of the Lego figures was expertly done, and it was fun more me (big Lego builder) to see so many unique lego pieces and sets being used. I give this comic a 4/5 for originality, professional photography, with a little plot work to be done.
Invader Zim fancomic- updating Mondays and Fridays!

You bring up an interesting point. It's been recommended to me to place the "chapter" titles down at the bottom of the strip after the number. Thanks for the comments.
After a bunch of strips in the last storyline, more strips are ready for the new story line. I am Bob, Wassupp!!! has begun. As always, leave a comment if you'd would.
Genuine Draft is also on Twitter!!! http://www.twitter.com/gendraftcomic
I have added a behind the scenes section to Genuine Draft's website. It has pictures of what the sets look like before filiming. Descriptions about them, what I like about them, and other stuff. In the future I'll be adding a copy of the way I script GD. And in the works is a step by step of how I make GD from the plot, to the script, set building, cast, filming, assembly, and finally to the web it goes. I will get the comment section for it up and running soon, I'm having some issues with the coding, again. Fyi, I start these things, go on to something else, then return to it and have to try to figure out where I left off, then I have to figure out what I screwed up. Anyway, enjoy!
Like all of the other lego comics I see, you face the problem of the reader having no clue what they are looking at for a significant amount of the reading time. The colors wash out with the backgrounds (there are only so many lego colors), and the consistent textures from the blocks (circles upon circles) make it difficult to isolate what is happening in any particular panel. The lack of consistent facial expressions and the limited amount of movements possible from the dolls creates numerous problems with portraying what you are trying to get across to the audience.
This isn't to say you can't do this and be successful, but if you don't have a way of grabbing and keeping your audience, why would they read it? You'll have to ensure you can easily (in a second or less, minus text) isolate what is occurring in each panel. The second half of the challenge is making sure your writing is top notch, as it will be the only way of conveying emotion.
The latest, chapter if you will in the ongoing BattleMark storyline is "Convergence of Participants". The end is nigh. And not tomention the need for getting everything done before the roomies come home and I have to dissassemble the monster set.
The basic plot is everyone involved in BattleMark has made their way to one spot.
A little behind the scenes. When I first decided to use the 40 plus comics that were the original Lego comics I made before scrapping the idea and screwing up the next one (which is how I see Genuine Draft at times), I had no out. I got in to the storyline really easy, but not out. Now the thing has a life of it's own and doesn't seem to want to end. It took a long time to finally get something figured out. I just didn't think it would take this long. But a really long break between shifts produced the plot ends. So in a few years it will be done.
That's great and all, but I still cant tell who or what I'm supposed to be looking at half the time. Everything kinds washes together and It takes a lot of eyestrain to focus on anything in particular. Story seems neat, though.

Interesting. I've never had anyone say that about Gen Draft.
When I started comicking, I've always had an idea for an X-Mas story. I've never been able to work it in. Usually because of the 2 to 3 months I work ahead. 2008 was in the middle of getting the comic started so I didn't plan anything out. There was even talk of an X-Mas in July for a story. Then the neverending BattleMark storyline started and kept going until 11-19-2009 when I actually finished it. It's heavily edited to bring it to a close a bit sooner than planned. Originally expected to end in February of 2010. But I got it trimmed down and made. I checked my update calendar and notice I had late November and December open. So I finally had the chance to do my X-Mas story. The story of Santa -vs- The Killer Zombie Robots From Outer Space begins on 11-21-2009 Click To Start
The Genuine Draft X-Mas 2009 spectacular is still going with daily updates. It finishes a week into January with a wonderful message on the holiday.
As for other Genuine Draft news, I've scripted into March. Need to finish all of the new sets and get filming. My goal is to be at least 6 months of comics finished with another 6 months written at all times. Eventually I'd like to be a year or more ahead.

Finally, Genuine Draft has ended the long running X-Mas Story 2009. I enjoyed making it and reading it. On 3-28-09 I began an alternate time line story that ended in November of 2009. With the X-Mas story it's been a long time since I've been in the "real" world of Genuine Draft. Now return with me and see how the events unfold as we get back. Home Sweet Home, I Think...

New Story Time! "It's a nice happy place to eat at..." Begins 2-7-10 and ends in a few weeks. Gonna spend a few weeks at the newly rebuilt Burgatory. Lot's of humor to get away from the over seriousness of the past few storylines. The world has been reset and things are getting back to normal. I enjoyed writing these and filming them. Good to get back to the fun.
