congrats on getting into print - ... but im not really surprised about the subject matter of the magazine - now being firmly assosated with drugs and the smoking of same - is that really what you wanted ?

It's part of what I wanted, most definitely. Smokers have been following the strip for a while and there's been no complaints that it's not the usual smoker humour, far from it. I see no reason why it denys the strip a regular comic reading audience just because it's now associated with Weedworld which is what, to me at least, your question infers. Once it's in comic shops it will be associated with comics and once it's in book shops it will be associated with books and so on. Some people will have already a predjudice against the strip but they, in my view, would never actually buy it anyhow.

Then you're not thinking. I have no objection to comics that involve drug use, or even revolve around them, just like I watch films about religion, murder, gangsters, crusaders etc. But the difference is that the way in which you present your comic, right from the start, implies you are trying to shove a personal view-point down people's throats. I'm not religious but I've watched and enjoyed passion plays, but not Mel Gibson's, why? Because he used it as a soap box for some rather unpleasant views of the world. The danger is that you will limit your appeal by doing the same thing (which is a pity as the bit I read was well written and well drawn).

A dislike for the presentation I get. How to present the strip so it would stand out amongst the thousand out there prompted me to be up front in how it was different, which is the drug smuggling storyline. The 'trying to shove a personal view down people's throats' is where you lost me. I am not for drugs or smuggling, but I've known and seen enough of this world to know that it's undeniably a very exciting place to set a story and take a bunch of characters into. The feedback from ex-smugglers is that it's bang on with the feel and detail. Off your regular working class brits they love the brits abroad feel that they've lived and can relate to, plus the gangsters ring true to the one's they've heard of or briefly met. Smokers have liked the strip also as they're free to root for the smugglers, or the gangsters for that matter. Comic readers have been a mixed bag though. Over here the response has been very good with readers but bad amongst some of the comic retailers who object to the content. The head shops and cannabis retailers have been all for it though and it is here that it is welcomed and where I will start selling it. I would love it if the british comic shops and comic media had been as welcoming, but they simply weren't.
I've been following this comic for several months now. I actually like it a lot. It sort of reminds me of a more "adult" version of Herge's work with Tintin, at least with the European feel.
I don't know why people have anything against it because it's about drugs. I've never done drugs, never will, and I don't like them, yet I still enjoy the comic. I don't understand why people can't enjoy a work that's about something they don't approve of. It's not like you're supporting it, or you'll become a drug addict for reading and liking the comic.
Anyway, I see on your site that you have another adventure planned. Looking forward to it.
Didn't they teach you in school that web-comics are a gateway drug?
Read more than 10 pages of Questionable Content or Something Positive and the next thing you know you're holed up in a crack den doing "favors" for legless veteran to score an eight-ball.
I love your comic. It looks so professional and the style seems very old school. The characters show good body language and expressions. I especially like the font; it's easy to read yet has a character of its own. Good job in getting in print.
