Dantes Inferno: the Game

Post by SergeXIII »

It was announced today that EA, namely the Dead Space dudes, are making Dantes Inferno and from what little I've seen it is executed in a similar fasion. You play as some buff holy man kicking ass through all the levels of Hell. Dantes Inferno is one of my favorite works of literature, but I'm not sure how I feel about this. I don't think the Dead Space appraoch is the best one to take, and always felt that the paranoia of Silent Hill was more appropriate as it encouraged self reflection on how the vices surrounding you were self applicable, you know, kinda like the whole point of the Inferno. It wasn't about the demons or monsters, it was about the victims and yourself.

Anyway,

thought you'd like to know.

Hmm, yes, this seems pretty stupid. On the other hand, I suspect that the average gamer doesn't want to play an extended typological reading simulator, so maybe it's for the best that they aren't planning on fully capturing the spirit of the Divine Comedy. Carry on, EA.

Well if a game's been JUST announced I'm gonna wait a bit before dropping righteous judgment.
Personally I'm still waiting for a game scary enough to make me physically soil myself. I'm a horror junkie.

Virgil is the best character, with a million hit points and maximum charisma.

I hope they preserve the bit of the book where Dante passes out because of the pathos of one spirit's story of lust and adultery.

...

I really really really hope they do.

Mario Kart never triggered so much as indigestion, much less full bowel release.
