it's only awesome if he were Tom Sellick playing a Batman villain in the 1960s TV show.Jesusabdullah wrote:What's with all you hatin' on that moustache? Everybody knows it's awesome, shut up.

Kirb's friends at 4chan cracked the password to Sarah Palin's yahoo email (the one she's not supposed to use for government business but does anyway). They posted the password everywhere and the madrush to login caused yahoo to delete the account.

I heard that on the radio today. Then they were talking about, "how do you just say "no" to a subpoena?" "well, you reach into your drawer and get out this wooden block that has the presidential seal on it and stamp the back of your hand, then raise it palm facing you and give them the finger"Mr.Bob wrote:Kirb's friends at 4chan cracked the password to Sarah Palin's yahoo email (the one she's not supposed to use for government business but does anyway). Re: The freakish size of Nancy Reagan's head.
Just watched interviews with McCain and Obama on 60 minutes. My thoughts:
McCain: While I enjoyed his honesty on a few subjects (the economy, for example) I noticed that he engaged in some subtle fear mongering while describing why americans should be "concerned." He said that americans should be "very concerned" about the state of the economy. While I appreciate that he admitted that we are in a recession, I did not like his narrow focus on the negatives of the situation. Also, I simply do not like his economic plan. Sure, tax cuts are nice, but he 1. Seemed to forget that it was deregulation that helped get us INTO this mess, and 2. grossly generalized Obama's tax plan while gently skipping around his own. Obama is planning to raise taxes on those that actually have tons of money, with taxes cut on most Americans, while McCain's plan is for tax cuts for everyone, but LARGER cuts for those who have more to give. In the end, I didn't feel confident in his economic plan or his claimed military experience. Just because you were a soldier doesn't automatically give you the experience of a general. Final verdict: I do not have confidence in him. While his has plenty of explanations and ideas, they don't look like the best ways to solve the problem.
Obama: I noticed that Obama was a bit more prone to using buzzwords, but I preferred his economic plan to McCain's. He also seems to be more focused on solutions to problems rather then how bad the problem is, compared to McCain. I think he generalized how the economy got into this mess, mostly by placing too much blame on deregulation. I want to hear what those other factors are, Obama. There was some amount of fluff in his answers, which made him sound like he wasn't too sure about what the key to solving our problems was, but it also seemed that he was willing to listen to others who had more experience and knowledge with said matters. I think I prefer him being adaptable (McCain buzzword "flip-flopping") as opposed to supporting a less-then-credible solution. Final Verdict: Some fluff and empty space when compared to McCain, but at least it's not space filled with bad solutions.
Who I think makes a better leader: Obama. While he may seem less experienced then McCain, I believe that the only area where McCain has more experience is in politics. Right now in America, we're suffering globally, both in our economy and our global image, and Obama has the right ideas to help the first and the charisma to help the second. McCain, despite his denial of it, seems far too much like an extension of Bush. In addition to this, I am disturbed the extreme religious bent of the Republican party. Seperation of church and state, people: don't combine your faith with running the country.

A recession is when you have two quarters in a row marked by negative growth. To my knowledge, the Credit Crunch isn't considered a recession (yet). If McCain said it was one, it's another example of how deep his knowledge of economics is.Dreamaniaccomic wrote:While I appreciate that he admitted that we are in a recession, ...

i don't know whether obama has mentioned recessions, but I've heard it a lot for the last 6 months, and, mostly not from john mccain.KWill wrote:A recession is when you have two quarters in a row marked by negative growth. not that i'm saying it's acceptable for him to be saying we are in a recession, but he's echoing the sentiments of a large portion of the public which has been created by sensationalist media.

Dictionary definition of recession or not, it's hardly sensationalism to say the economies fucked right now.

One of the brilliant things the GOP did, whether by chance or on purpose, was put in place a secondary media that's basically their mouthpiece. Y'know, radio shows, Fox News. So when a journalistic actually does her job, Rush Limbaugh can talk about "Sensational Journalism," the receptive audience not bothering to notice he's the main offender.

The liberals say that the conservatives skew the news, and that certain stations are mouthpeices for the other side.
the conservatives say that the liberals skew the news, and that most tv stations are mouthpieces for the liberals.
personaly, i think they both skew the news, towards whatever will get them mmore ratings from their target demographic.
and both benefit from doom and gloom talk. people love to feel that the end is near.
