James Bond Games

Post by ZeroHero »

Saw an older thread on "Homeless Bond"...funny!!

They're having a James Bond summer film festival going on in the area this summer, and it got me thinking about the film(s) and games.

I used to love watching the older films at my boy's grandma's house on laser disc...(pre-DVD!!!). :)

What are some of your favorites??

Goldfinger and The Man With The Golden Gun. Gert Fröbe and Christopher Lee were the two best Bond villains ever.

I'm a big fan of the B-quality 70's Roger Moore's myself. Live and Let Die, Man With the Golden Gun, Moonraker, etc. It was during this era that the Bond franchise had long defined itself and was content to tell esentially the same story but in different locations with different girls and different deformed assassins. The video games took all those cliches and wallowed in them even deeper.

james bond now your talking my language. View to a kill with fellow welshman Timmothy Dalton is among my favourites. but I really love Dr. No, and octapussy, as the tops. there's others. pretty much a good portion of Connery, and well my guilty pleasure (other than dalton) is probably Her Majesty's Secret service.r plus the Thunderball theme... best bond theme...ever.

No! Live and Let Die has the best Bond theme ever! Closely followed by OHMSS, Goldfinger, and Goldeneye.

I am definately a fan of the older James Bond films; my favorite though is still Octopussy. A close second would be A View to a Kill.

I WATCH the current James Bond films... but I'm not an overwhelming fan of them. I did like a couple things in GoldenEye. It had it's moments. The current piece of trash though... c'mon. James Bond plays Texas Hold'em? Blarg.

Yeah, we believe you. We all know you shudder with glee whenever he fires his "gun."

Yeah, I wanted to make a joke about his golden gun, but it wouldn't work for the same reason.

I'm not much of a JB fan, but when I watch them, I prefere Roger Moor, I think that he maintained the self-parodic tone the best, what the conviction with which he does some very kitchy and unbelieveable things. Sure, he was just reprising "The Saint" role, but that's I guess why they took him: he was good at just what they needed. Later JBs like Dalton or Brosnan played the role straight, which I think it all wrong, similar to these webcomics that became "all serious" halfway through.
Connery, as a young man, was to me an actor very much lacking in identity. He seems like a guy who was taking the roles that were refused by greater actors like James Steward or Carry Grant. I actually used to forget that he played in some films, thinking that it was one of other popular actors instead - that's how much his character carved into my memory.

I couldn't imagine how much the dynamic of James Bond would have changed if Cary Grant would have played James bond... specially concidering he was the source inspiration behind the character. I actually just got a book that has Cary Grant and James Bond meeting. can't wait to see how this turns out.

Okay, yeah so I'm gonna have to be another nomination for Sean and 'Goldfinger' as James Bond gold. As for Cary Grant as James Bond, I would have loved to see that. I can just see him playing a similar character as to what he did in 'To catch a Thief'. And game wise 'Golden Eye 007' for the N64 has to be my favorite title (staying away from the pun this time).

Perhaps Carry Grant as Bond would have been great, though I don't know how it would affect the franchize. Connery himself was hard to replace, and Grant would undoubtly be even harder, perhaps even impossible to replace, and francise might have died with him gone.

Forgive me? I'm not the one that picked the wrong best song. =P
Speaking of which, the worst Bond theme songs. I call it a tie between The Man With The Golden Gun and Die Another Day.

Technically speaking, Dalton and Brosnan were reprising their roles as Hamlet and Remington Steele, respectively. It shows too.

Yeah, true. The latest theme might've been a mess if they hadn't canceled that proposed song with Ronson/Winehouse...Ha!

I'm not in the EU, where they seem to play a bit more mobile games, but this one: Top Agent, is pretty cool. Lots of themes and villains from the films...
