Xbox advice
I have decided I want the Xbox 360 more than the Wii..The Xbox is 20% cheaper in US than here, so I am gonna ask one of my friends who is coming from there to get it for me. I need advice about where is the best place to buy and what kind of package!

I don't know about the package, but the places like Best Buy tend to be more expensive. Well...really a lot of the electronic's stores. Sometimes Frys can have good deals, though. If you want guranteed cheap, there's Walmart. I try to a void shopping there because the corporation's done some shady things, but they are cheap.
Does anyone know if she'll need a power adapter/converter? Does it even matter with Xboxes?
Edit: It's likely you will. there's a chart for it. But maybe xboxes can do the laptop thing and switch? But that wouldn't help you with the plug. At the very least you'd need an adapter for that *consults people more knowledgeable in electronics than she*

Consoles are the same price everywhere
Best Buy is NOT more expensive, they sell it at microsofts price
Accesories are where the prices vary
If you buy a console at walmart you'll get the same price for the console itself at bestbuy or anywhere.
ok maybe there'll be like a 2 cent difference but really
No lie
And yeah she'll need a converter

Checking company websites, you're right. They do seem to keep the prices for consoles constant.
However, you might check on the price of converters and such and take that into account when adding up the total price. I don't know how much more expensive consoles are over there, but be sure it won't match or surpass that.

I got the Deluxe pack. Great buy. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is, maybe on par with Gears of War, the best 360 game I know of. I know GoW comes included in the box with a Deluxe pack, depending on which box you buy, so you'll save some cash there. Then again, I havent played 360 in a while. I hear good things about Viva Piñata too. Mass Effect will also kill hours and hours. Finally, Dead Rising is always fun, and a game I'm hooked on (Once a year, me and a bunch of friends get together and stay up trying to get through the game doing EVERYTHING, like all missions and all people saved. So many hours I'll never get back)

on a related note- do not move, jostle, or even breathe on your x-box 360 while it is running. t his will cause the read head to rub a circle in the disc, which messes up the game. this circle is a pain to buff out, even with very expensive machines, and will drastically shorten the playlife of your disc.

I love my husbands Xbox and I had to impartially sell every console to people for quite a while...The long and short of it is if you know it's what you want to get but do your research before you go in, find out what accessories you NEED. For instance if you are going to be playing with others get a second controller. If you are going to be playing ALOT get the rechargeable battery and the charging stand. If you want to play on Live consider your options as far as buying subscription cards or tyeing it to a credit card. Same for marketplace points. If you have a friend you visit who has an xbox get a memory card so you can bring your profile with you when you go. I can't think of anything else at this exact moment because I feel kind of crap and am cooking...if I think of more I'll add it later.
Also if your internet is wireless you will need the $99 adapter
It's pricey and most people I sold to just decided to get an Ethernet cable to go from their modem to their 360 instead of bothering with the wireless.
PS if anyone ever wants to play on XBL my tag is Mvmarcz and my husband buys all the arcade games and nearly all the console games...

^ Beat me to it.
If you buy an XBox from outside the country you will play it in, be aware that you will probably need to mod it to run games you buy locally. Also keep in mind that US machines run on 110V AC 60Hz whilst your power is (I think) 240V AC 50Hz so you'll probably need to buy a local power adaptor for it.
Plus they are really freakin heavy, so you must have a really good friend if they are willing to give up a fair chunk of their luggage allowance for it.
