I've now have had real Turkish Delight (actually had it a few weeks ago in Seattle, but this reminded me). I've decided, it's good, but I wouldn't sell my family for a box of it... maybe my sister.
The real way to eat it is with a really bitter coffee. Instead of sugaring it, you take bites of turkish delight.
And they're not all the same. One made from rose doesn't do much for me, but one from wallnuts is top.

I think I saw you, actually, there was a plane passing over the sky the other day, I think I saw you on a window.

Same! I enjoy it, but my dad brought some rosewater flavored turkish delight back from England once. That stuff was foul. :P Tasted like perfume. You can get it at ethnic themed food marts here- the occasional oriental food store, that sort of thing.

Actually you know what, I'm more appalled by the water thing.
Well, 2 pounds with an exchange rate of nearly 2 dollars to the pound will get you a 4 dollar coke.
Where the hell have you been buying your coke?! that's ridiculous!

I was gonna say...since the Euro is worth more, shouldn't coke be CHEAPER? I mean, two pounds is four dollars, but jesus, that's still a four dollar coke. You'd think it would be half a pound, or a pound, or something.

[quote="cjburgandy"]I first flew to London, where I was hoping to meet up with Shiney and Binny and Law, but the feds must have wised up to my leaving because my cell phone wouldn't work at all, so I never did get to meet them :(

Aww.

BTW it would have cost you like 2$/minute to use your phone, you should have picked up a prepaid phone. Or use text messages which are 25 cents.

But the phone you have, probably doesn't do quadband, or even triband. Most phones sold in the US for 'free' are only dualband, sometimes triband (nokia), but really, ... get me a N95. ^_^ (The're 900$, no you don't need to get me a n95 ^^;;;;)

They're only interesting because they're made of real rose. I knew some family that used to grow those special roses, aparently they were good for making several kinds of sweets.

Maybe in continental EU. GB didn't adopt Euro.

There's an ice cream shop here that makes rose-flavored ice cream. It tasted like soap. Bleh.

After that I wasn't brave enough to try their lavender.

I personally like the rose flavored turkish delight. Reminded me a lot of the jasmine flavored candies I used to eat in Bangkok. And not all the coke we were finding were 2L. We did find shops that had them for 1L as well, just none of them were near our hotel. Even 1L to me though is really steep.
And don't worry Kisai, I wasn't attempting to call Binny, I was trying to text her. I eneded up at one point trying a phone booth, but she didn't answer :( She did send me an e-mail after that though that I didn't get until I attempted internet on the boat. I felt bad about it.
