You've most likely heard the expression, "You learn something new every day!" And I don't know about y'all, but I usually really do...so I'm starting a thread about it! Share with us your newfound wisdom: What have you learned today?
I learned what "RFD" stands for! "Rural Free Delivery." It was started way back when, when the countryfolk didn't want to (or couldn't) get into town to get their mail. The post office would give them an RFD address, and deliver the mail to them!
I just learned that a cactus out the back now has three flowers that smell of rotten meat and look like one of these (excelpt much, much, much, much smaller).
No matter how much you smile, act kind, or pray on it, there will always be people who go out of their way to make you feel less than you should feel. So get over it and adapt.

Oh yeah! I love those things! Although I'm sure I'd feel differently if I ever actually smelled one. I didn't know there was anything like them in Australia. I always thought they were mostly in Indonesia.

We don't have any native cacti at all. Heck, we don't even have any wild, non-native cacti. They hang out in people's gardens pretty much exclusively.
i learnt that daylight savings ended today and i forgot that it did..
"when a hero dies, he becomes a legend, that legend, with time, becomes a myth, then a fable, that fable, is then carved in stone, and when that stone crumbles, it is lost" - Takahn.
I've learned that my state's reputation for schizophrenic weather is well deserved.
This morning, it was 60-something degrees, and I was running amok in the sunshine in a tee-shirt. Now, it's snowing so bad I nearly went off the road three times on what should have been a ten-minute drive, but wound up being 3 times that. [/quote]
I always wanted a little death of my very own. I would love it and hug it and name it George.
Ahem...I'll stop derailing the thread now.
I also learned today that the board they use for professional comics is the most awesome board in the world. Pencil marks erase like nothing! My fingers positively itch to draw on this stuff!
