"Toss" and "tossed salad" can both have fun, alternate definitions! The former being a mostly British exclusive, the latter being found in American slang as well.

I thought we were the Salad Bowl. Tossed Salad is just dirty and not fit for a country that was founded by Puritans.

Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.
"Data" is not the plural of "anecdote"

Kirb wrote:What, you think most of the illegals are coming from a border half the size of the Canadian border?
Yes. 100%, without a shadow doubt.
What was the point of asking me that?
You contradict yourself. If you think all people have basic rights, and 'righteous treatment,' I don't think you should exclude a person because
there's no dusty papers in a government file cabinet declaring he exists.
People are people. Basic rights are basic rights.

Would you deny a child who had no actual choice in coming into the USA an education? Or basic rights?
I would deny that child an education without any guilt. Why? Education costs taxpayer money. Let the illegal immigrants homeschool their kids if they have a problem with it.
You're willing to pay taxes to support criminals? Good for you - that's just like if I punched you and took five bucks out of your wallet.

Me, however, I like my taxes to go towards legal citizens of my country for their benefit - not for the benefit of the lazy and incompetent who don't know how to fill out visa forms.
Do you think everyone learns English in a single year? Not everybody learns English immediately when they come to this country. Many of these "old" immigrants — the ones from Europe that the English-only people seem to consider the "good" immigrants — lived in neighborhoods with other people from their homelands. That made it natural for many of them to speak the language from the old country at home.
One thing the 'english-only' seem to forget is that America has always been a melting pot. There are examples of Spanish, French, Yiddish, and German words that have been absorbed by English and are now used by Americans every day. It makes for a richer language and culture. Is there any reason to think that in the future when we start to adopt some of the language of the "new" immigrants, that English will be any less enriched?

English has never been a static language. If a person from one part of the country has trouble understanding a person from another region, should we outlaw regional slang and accents, too?
Your argument is illogical - these people are speaking Spanish, not English with Spanish slang. I speak Quebecois French, so you don't have to tell me about the bastardization of languages.

And yes, in this modern day anyone can learn any language in a single year - provided their are neither stupid or lazy because those are the only two excuses people have not to learn a language given all the tools people have nowaday to learn. I will not bend over for the incompetent.
You are quite misinformed and misguided. Believe it or not, illegals really do do the sh***y jobs Americans don't want to. And for lower than minimum wage. If you don't believe me, take a walk down to Central Valley, California.
But I find it amusing that you blame only the illegals, instead of the employers who are actually hiring them. Obviously, if the 'illegals are taking my jobs' crap argument had any merit, that would be more of a problem.
YOU are quite misinformed. Like I said; if there's a job there's someone willing to do it - even if they aren't illegal immigrants.
This argument has no merit. Do you think that the illegals were middle class to begin with? That they are 'stealing' middle class work? If anything, it is outsourcing that would cause your fantastic scenario. But, of course, nobody ever really talks about that. It's them damn illegals takin' our jobs!
Your argument has no merit - you don't seem to understand the economy or the societal problems that affect the Middle Class. All you're proving to me is that you have little understanding about how the United States of America works. It's not even worth my time to try explaining to you the numerous sources that affect the Middle Class because I doubt you'd understand that either.
You are a guppy arguing with a shark.

None of the arguments you presented show any merit because they fail to address the root issue - jumping across the border and staying in America is illegal. That's the issue here - not anything else. Either the law changes, or it doesn't - this is a black and white issue with a right or wrong answer. There is no gray area, there is no respite, there is no forgiveness.

You would defy the age-old legal system of America for a group of people where the majority are highschool drop-outs? You demonstrate the mindset that turns good countries to s**t. Keep that mindset if you want, but stay the hell out of Canada or I'm going to sic our hockey teams on you.

I am of the belief that there is no such thing as a black and white issue, only differing shades of gray. But to each his own, I suppose.

I'm hardly a guppy, and you're hardly a shark, if you can't bother to explain something. Some things cannot be resolved through internet debates, so let's leave it at this.

Also, I'm half-Canadian. =P
I've got an innate resistance against hockey teams.

Plus, as everyone knows, they all speak french and end every sentence with "eh."

Sitting on my bookshelf...

American Jihad: The Terrorists Living Among Us by Steve Emerson
Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America by Yossef Bodansky
The Lessons of Terror by Caleb Carr
13 Cent Killers: The 5th Marine Snipers in Vietnam by John J. Culbertson
Sniper by Mark Spicer
Hitler and his Generals by Helmut Heiber & David M. Glantz
Rasputin by Brian Moynahan
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

And, waiting on it to come in from Archambault (Because my e-mail wasn't read on air so I don't get a free one :( )
*rubs palms together happily*

The War on the Middle Class by Lou Dobbs

In addition to that I have a few non-war and non-selfimprovement books like Atomsmashers, Art Fundamentals, a dictionary, an atlas, a latin-english dictionary, some fantasy novellas, and a book about historical ninjas. I have some photocopies from other books, like a photocopy of the Communist Manifesto and various Marxist quotes from when I was 16 and "against the system". I also, ironically enough, collect bibles for fun.

Just because I'm loud and obnoxious doesn't mean I'm unintelligent - it just means I'm impatient and ill-tempered. I also don't "debate" - I state my side of an issue and then tell everyone who disagrees with it that's they're wrong.

In 25 years I'll be some ass-backwards politcian somewhere making the news because I'm loud and angry. I have the bad feeling if I ever do go political I'll be the next Rush Limbaugh :(

*shrug* Assuming you actually don't want that to happen, you could, you know, stop. Who you are for most people is a habit, but it can just as easily be a choice.

See, that's the thing - with the paycheque and power wielded by someone like Rush I would be laughing myself - all the way to the bank.

I remind you; this isn't a debate about "Van is loud and stupid".
Last time I checked this topic was about illegal aliens.
