How Not to End a Comic

I don't know if anyone here still remembers How Not to Run a Comic, but it was a community-based effort about coming up purposely bad comics to illustrate certain themes (IE how not to start a comic, how not to do a love scene) that was started on this forum a few years ago and I ended up being in charge of.

It has since gone unupdated for a really long time (for a number of reasons) and I've made the decision that it's time to end it, so I thought I'd do it in the same way that it started: by starting a forum thread and asking people to contribute, and then I'll put the submissions up on the site with a link back to your comic.

This last topic is pretty self-explanatory: "How Not to End a Comic". I'd like to see the worst examples possible for the last page of a comic. (Please don't submit pages from your actual comic, though, these are supposed to be parodies). You can see some of the other examples on the site for an example of the style of submissions, but we're pretty flexible.

The comics don't have to be particularly well-drawn or anything, but I'd really appreciate it if some of the people who did a comic at the very beginning would consider reprising their roles for the finale.

This announcement will be up on the site in a couple of days, but I'd like to have some comics to put up first with the annoucement. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

Ooooo...How Not to Run a comic was the first Comicgen (then Keenspace) comic I read when I first signed up and it actually provided me with a few decent tips.

I think I might have to contribute, it was one of those comics I always wanted to do something for and never did.

I'll work on a better entry, but for some reason this popped into my head as the worst ending possible for a comic :P

I'll have a better one up in say... a week? I'm bogged down with work lately.

I'll see what I can do for this. ^^ Can it be an original type of strip or should it be something from our own comics?

Can I contribute?

The difference between this comic and my work, I put more effort into this, I made this in paint, my comics are ussually only one panel, and are smaller.

Good luck on your exams, by the way.

Heh heh! Maybe someone should make templates for when someone ends their comic....that'd be a great one. Just re enter the year, and you're set!

Not sure if this counts or not...I put it up on RotD, but it was on April Fools, right around the time the characters were going on a trip...so it's not technically part of the comic, right?

April fools is probably okay, though it might help if you added a caption or something explaining the background information (people are going away on a trip) to the first panel so it'd make sense independant of the previous comics.

The reason for the "don't submit your own comic" rule is so people don't just habitually submit things they've done out of artistic self-loathing for their previous works (despite the fact that they were probably done to the best of their ability at the time). Comics initially designed as parodies are more acceptable for what HNTRAC is.

I actually did one of these as parody not long ago... a parody ending for my own comic just because I felt like it. Cheap ending and cheap graphics.

(Never actually posted on the comic website)

Here's another way to not end a comic: with a cliffhanger.
