I might be. I have to start a novel for Creative Writing class, so who knows if it'll double over?

I'm in. Maybe I can beat my word-count from last year.

Word-count = 0

Not my finest hour...

As a reminder,

31 days
4 hours writing a day
403.23 words an hour or 6.72 words a minute
50,000 words.

I was gonna be in last year but I got sick. I would like to be in this year!

Nope. Can't. Busy time of year for southern hemisphere college lecturers. Our school years actually end at the end of the year. Completely illogical, I know.

I'll likely never get anywhere near the goal, but I might try it anyway.

Thanks for reminding me! :D I missed the last couple years because of school, but I have a light load this semester finally. My stories may not be completely rational but I can type a half-decent one at 30-60 wpm. ;)

That's crazy talk!

But yeah, I reeeally can't. Grad school and work, plus 12-16 hours of comic every week, plus me trying to get some kind of portfolio together in the vain hopes of doing comics for a living...yeah.

Come to think of it, I don't know if I'll technically be cheating or not. I have to start the novel before November because in mid-October the professor needs to see that we're doing work on the project. I know it's not an official competition or something, but still I have no choice but to have a headstart.

Maybe I'll count it as that many words onto what I've already done by November? I'm still trying to finish revising the book I wrote over the summer.

I'm going to jump the gun and say that I'm in.

Peer pressure shall be my motivation to finally finish a decently-sized story!
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

There's no real contest, Cushion. The basic aim is to simply get the looming, daunting task of writing a novel's worth of words under your belt so you know you can do it.

Joel Fagin wrote:"Whether you believe you can or believe you can't - you're right."
In this case, whether I can or can't (or believe either way) reach the overall goal seems to be one of the least important parts of the process as long as I continue to write write write.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.
